FYI: Weight of 245/40-18 on Stockers

Totally depends on the tires used.
Stock bridgestones have alot of sidewall reinforcement so they are pretty heavy for their size. Toyo T1Rs in 245 are lighter than the stock RE040s in 225.
It would help if you let us know which tires you are using and if they are new or worn. If they are worn it should be noted the tread depth in 1/32 increments using a depth gauge. Not just that they have a certain amount of miles on them.
It seems like you are making a blanket statement that 245/40/18s will be lighter with this post and I would hate for someone less informed to just go out and buy 245/40 tires thinking they will be lighter when in fact they may not be.

Oh Sorry these are Hercules Raptis WR1's and they are about three months old, about 3000 miles, and one autox run (only one run due to a alternator problem) on them. These tires are just as good as the BFG made Raptors I had previously and both the Raptors and the Raptis' were better than the stock Bridgstones.
I can get these tires at cost ($400.00 for four) which is why I don't run the norm. I've spanked too many guys running tires that cost twice as much so I never saw a reason to run the expensive tires. The spec say the tire weighs 24.69lbs new which means the stock rims are pretty light.
