gold? did someone say gold?!

the work wheels are cast and they "felt" heavier than the volks. but i have a pretty poor sense of weight. i only get wheels because of looks. the car is my daily driving toy that gets me to point A to point B. yes it is a performance sports car, but in my every day to day life, i don't push the car anywhere near it's potential. i'm setting my car up for the street. i may once in awhile go to a track event and see how well the car handles, but the works or volks will never see that kind of abuse. it's the same reason for all the parts i buy. my strut bars don't do as much as a brace would, but then i would have to do away with my engine cover. my RB exhaust was purposely bought just because of the looks and sound...not so much for the performance. i have tein s-tech lowering springs because i wanted to lower the ride height but not alter the stock feel. coilovers are just a hassle for me...i've dealt with them in the past and always ended up getting annoyed with them.
but yea...soon as i get tires for the volks i will slap them on and take a butt load of pictures for you guys. the rolling picture idea is going to be hard...none of my friends can take pictures and i don't feel comfortable with any of them driving my car

well help me find a clue here, how does having smaller wheel/tire widths in the front look better than having the same fat wheels and tires you plan to put on the rear be put on all four corners instead?

While I am not going to stagger anything on my car, I will admit that it does look good. Most exotics do it, so the recipe must be working for someone, even if you dont like it.

but having fat wheels all around can be done, look at the mazdatrix car. they have 18x10 simmons (don't know their offset) all around, but not to sure if they were having any rubbing or fitment issues..

only if you're too STUPID to not order the correct offset, they fit under there fine

these 9.5"s with 275 tires all around really look STUPID, don't they, there's plenty of room to get another 1/2", maybe 1", with the correct offset:
http://www.good-win-racing.com/mazda...topic.php?t=53
and when your RX-8 puts out 400+ hp then you might need the extra rear traction like the exotic cars, but then I'll assume you aren't STUPID enough not to know better than to take a well balanced car and make it understeer, now that would really be STUPID
hope that wasn't too STUPID for you to understand

Just in case you are BLIND, i did say I was NOT going to stagger my wheel and tire setups, hell, I am on stock rims, and plan to stay that way. Get off your soap box, you dont know everything. So quit acting like it.

umm, I didn't call you anything, I merely emphasized a word that you chose to interject into the conversation to say that I did would be kind of ... oh, never mind, one of us resorting to name calling is enough

I would have been glad to. My statements were not based on one post, in this one thread. As someone who spends a lot of time reading in the racing section of this forum, I have come to form an opinion. It is my opnion, and in no way reflects the opinion of this forum, it's users or owners in any way, implied or explicit.
Do I hold a grudge, no, just didn't appreciate the sentiments offered by TeamRX8. It could have been done better, with a little more attention to details of a post, rather than a skimming over.

sure thing.
back to the wheels, and the real reaosn this thread is here.
Post pics once you get them installed, they always look a lot different once they are on the car.
Again, what are your plans for the wheels you are currently using.

man...i feel like i'm repeating myself. i won't put them on til spring, which is when i'll be getting tires.
this whole staggered debate is really annoying. and if staggered setups were so bad in the performance aspect, why do so many manufacturers do it from the factory? prime example of a low torque, staggered setup, awesome handling car...Honda S2000. no one said that equal sizes all around is better performance. it all depends. with suspension, there are infinite variations to achieve what you think is the perfect setup.
as for my bronze Work wheels, they are my daily driving wheels. the Volks are more for showing off and the stock wheels are for the winter.

Has anyone seen my gold wheels. I parked my 8 at a convenience store in Severn and when I came out, it was sitting on concrete blocks with some old stock 8 rims leaning against my door.
Somebody, please help me locate my gold wheels!!!!

seriously a word of advice to you man dont start the debate on the factory staggered setup...half the close minded racing fools on this forum will just give you a whole load of ***** on minor performance deficiencies that you will barely or never experience on your day to day drive .. seriously they should just STFU ( not you) and stick that crap in the racing forum...
most wheels made today are for looks.
BTW love your wheels loooking good..cant wait to see them on..

LOL, you guys want the lightest most expensive wheels, electronic adjusting stiffly sprung coilovers, baddest swaybars, hottest tires, chassis stiffening braces, etc., etc. but somebody mentions that staggered tire/wheel widths will mess it all up and we're just a bunch of racing jerks trying to make your life miserable ... I mistakenly assumed there was more going on here than poseur status ... my bad
if it makes you feel better I won't ever bring the staggered issue up again, afterall it's no skin off my back what you do, but I'm still trying to understand how it "looks" better ...
