good hook on drill/slotted rotors
#26
hey so are you guys tryin to get a group deal goin on? If so, I'm definately interested. I've had cross-drilled slotted rotors before, and I'm never going back to stock rotors. I can definately feel the difference. Also, the rotors didn't crack on my, which was my #1 concern.
Has anyone bought the rotors yet? I'd like to email the seller and ask for the group buy again. How many people are interested?

I can't for the life of me remember which racing team it was but, there is a very professional team racing the rx-8 who have not upgraded the brakes on the car because they work so well straight from the factory . I know it seems like a good idea to be safe and upgrade brakes first but when I learned that little fact I decided I probably don't need to worry about it.
BTW, I wouldn't get hooked on the word "Premium." Lots of things can be "premium."

Ya...throw on some upgraded pads, and some good rubber, and the 8 will out brake a good # of "sport" cars.
Changing rotors has little actual effect on stopping distance...it just looks nicer. Generally most people feel a difference because they're exchanging a worn item with a new one. You get the same effect if you swap out a worn stock rotor with a new stock rotor. I believe SCC proved this awhile back with one of their 350Z comparison articles. Remember rotors are wear items!

Hmmm I've seen the slotted/drilled/blanks debate on many a forum and it never goes anywhere constructive IMO.
Amongst track drivers the consensus seems to be that solid 2 piece rotors are the way to go due to hi track temps and the the fact that stopping friction is maximized when you have a full rotor surface available to the brake pad. slotting/drilling takes away surface area. What really makes the difference is the pad and caliper.
Pads are usually the best upgrade, as calipers run a lot more ~$1200 for Brembo.
For street use, these will probably be fine, and they do look nice if that's your kind of thing.
