Grms Tests 6 Hi-p Tires

It's official FALKEN RT-615 sweeps the field of street touring tires in Grass Root Motor Sports V22 #5 8/05 test and rank of tires for autocoss use.

"In the maximum performance street tire category, it's hard to argue against the lap times, and both the new and old Falken Azenis ran strongest in this test."

Of the seven tires tested the RT-615 ran a 42.984, the next closest was the RT-215s 43.254 followed by the others - Yokohama Advan Neova, Hanacook Z212, Kuhmo Exta MX, and last BFGoodrich KDs 43.855 (rerun 43.612)

Good in depth article with lots of commentary on track.

I wonder if the TPMS would go nuts over the recommended 50psi. Does anyone know the TPMS's normal pressure range?

Is this test online? What car was used in the test?

Don't know about online...just got the mag today....but they used a 2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V w/Nismo mods for the street tire testing and a 1999 Miata Sport was used for the R-compound testing.

Thats why they were using 50 psi. The test car was a FWD.

No, they're using 50psi because that's Falken's recommended cold tire pressure--regardless of the drive axle.

I love my 615's -- when I first got them the tire installer only put 30lbs and they were very soft. I put 40 lbs and much better -- then 50lbs and perfect Glad to see the tests revealed the same as I found. Of course my TPMS are sitting in a box anyway so who cares what the limit is on them -- those things were a worthless POS anyway.

Kind've surprising. Not that the RT-615 won, as it is supposed to be classed above the other tires between a "max" summer tire & right below the full on R Compound autocross tire, but that the BF Goodrich Comp TA KD was last. That as supposed to be one of the best performing "Max" Summer tires out on the market according to Tire Rack & in a segment of Car 7 Driver TV.

RXhusker,

Are you still on the OEM rims?

So how do you take out the TPMS? And would that cause the light/beeper sounds off in the console??

TIA,

Pete

No I am running Speed Star D5R's There is no beep sound -- just a warning light -- I always have the DSC off anyway (turbo) so one more light doesn't bother me.

When you look at Falken's web site under http://www.falkentire.com/615micro.htm. They have a table with different setups for different cars for road racing purpose. What puzzled me is they actually use the staggered tires setup for the RX8 with only 32 psi for the front tires (225/45/18)?!

>There is no beep sound -- just a warning light

Is it a blinking light or its on constantly?

Btw, the wheel is beautiful Is it a forged wheel and how much does it weight? And does it have the same offset and width as the OEM wheel?

It is on constantly -- no blinking. Forged rim/cast center Speed Star Wheels (formerly SSR)

You can see more of mine in the Aftermarket Rims Thread

When I took my TPMS off my car, I just have a constant yellow light on, but I just put a piece of black tape over it. Problem solved. Sometimes I don't even remember the tape is there it looks so blended in.
