H&R UNEVEN RIDE HEIGHT?????

Hey guys,

We just installed some H&R Springs on a friend's RX8 that he bought from tirerack.

In any case, the passenger side front and rear are 0.5" higher than driver's side. Everything is seated properly.

I guess we just want to find out if anyone else has had this issue.

Thanks, Rishie

Doesn't sound right at all. You sure you don't have both rear springs on one side?

I'll take that bet. I'll accept paypal once i'm proven right.

Rishie, Don't know what it could be.. but yeah, that defientely sounds very odd. If it was a minor difference i would just say give it some time for the springs to settle, but .5" is a huge difference. My Mazdaspeed springs sat slightly uneven as well until after about a week... then all was normal.

man these guys put suspension bits on probably a thousand cars, I doubt they would make a mistake on putting two rear springs on one side. I seriously doubt it. Must be a manufactuer problem.

Ya that is extremely extremely doubtful. I had the client come back after alignment so I could look myself. They are on the right "corners", all of them. Are the ID's even the same front and rear, like can you even make that mistake?

So i take it nobody else has had any issues with H&R being uneven? Any H&R users speakin' up? Please could use your help.

He had, what was told to me, a minor accident. No suspension damage tho and seemed like everything was fine. The bodyshop is picking up the car and will have to put it on a frame rack if this doesn't sound right. Otherwise, damnit, i'm gonna have to pull the springs and measure them. SOB.

Thanks guys and any HR guys please speak up. Is your car riding even?

We're at about 26" on Driver side, floor to mid fender, and 26.5 on passenger side. Approx, give or take a quarter inch. I'm at home now. lolz.

Thanks, Rishie

My car sits the same way with H&R's. From the floor to mid fender I've got..

Front Driver 25'
Front Passenger 25.25'

Rear Driver 25.75'
Rear Passenger 26.25'

the IDs are differnet. "VA" is marked on the spring for the front and "HA" is rear. It's hard to mess up. My previous Eibachs sat the same way, but it was only a 1/4 of a difference from driver to passenger (both front and back).

Ok so now what? Are you happy with them? Did you take this up with H&R?

Have they been notified?

Thanks, Rishie

Sometime driver side spring will sag a little more then the passenger side. And this will also cause the rear passenger to raise a bit. But don't know if it will make that much of diff.

I guess the only real way to find out is if you swap springs left to right and see if the problem swaps sides. If it does then we know it's the springs. If not then we know it's the chasis or a varying spring perch position.

arghhh. how frustrating. Car is already aligned.

No, I didn't take it up with H&R. This morning, I took different measurments in the driveway and the passenger is only 1/4 inch off now. I don't think it's that big of a deal. You can't tell unless you pull out the measuring tape. If you do take them off and switch the back let me know how it goes.

i have the h&r's installed on my 8 and the guy that did my alignment said they lowered evenly, not sure of the exact dimensions though. the only thing i notice is the front is slammed and the rear is not as low, but it still looks good, no fender gap.
