Had a flat tire?

How many of you have had a flat tire on your RX-8? And if so, did the factory fix-a-flat kit do any good?

There was a post on this a little while ago...

The 'Flat Repair Kit' that comes with the car is only really good for an emergency. Once you use it, the tire is no good.....so your basicaly throwing away a tire cause of a screw hole or whatever. Since the kit cant repair a major failure (blow-out, ect) it will only fix tires that could prolly be repaired, and then the tire is useless, tires that it cant fix would be useless anyway.

Bottom line, if your out in the middle of nowhere, or its not safe to stay there then use the kit, otherwise just get it towed.

Careful or you'll get flamed for saying the tire will be unfixable. Apparently, some other members found places that will clean off the goo and fix the the flat. Mazda Manual states that the tire would need to be replaced once the repair kit is used so I'm also not backing down from recommending it either.

Use the Mazda Roadside Assistance instead or just pay for a $50 tow to the nearest repair shop instead of buying a new tire for a lot more.

Not exactly; I'm looking for actual experiences.

from looking at the stuff it looks like the same stuff in those cans of fix a flat and I know some versions of that stuff ( and maby its changed, this was a few years ago) the stuff would stick to the inside of the tire and most of the time couldnt (easily) be removed

I've gotten four flats, three were nails, the other was a gash. I was always within a short distance of a garage so I haven't used the fix a flat.

I used the compressor twice. I'd gotten the flat in the afternoon and it leaked out overnight to an "awww sh**." in the morning. compressor works great! :D
