HKS vs Tanabe

I was looking at the different threads on the forums for ideas on suspensions and I've also heard from friends that drive Evos and STis that the Tanabe Sevens are really good.

After reading the forums, it seems that HKS make really good suspensions as well.

So my dilemma now is debating between the two to get.

I plan on mostly using the car on the street and track it maybe a couple times a year so I'm thinking the Tanabe Sevens are probably more than what I will need. Same with the HKS Hipermax series ( I don't think I will ever need 30 damper settings, especially if i have to get out and change them manually, but you never know). Anyone know if the HKS series have some kind of electronic controlling system for their suspensions?

So I'm thinking that the Tanabe fives would be probably ideal for my use but not sure what the HKS equivalent would be for the Tanabe's.

What are people's thoughts about the two manufacturers and has anyone had experience with the Fives compared to the Sevens?

Thanks in advance!

Are you going to take the time to have your car professionally corner-weighted? BTW, I am also an HKS dealer.

I will in time unless it's a nominal fee of which I'll do that as soon as the coilovers are installed.

Highly recommend getting your car corner balanced and aligned after you get coilovers are installed.

Check out Adrenaline Racing in Lake Oswego. Ask for Eddie.

I have found the best way to find a shop in your area is to look up "Grassroots Motorsports" on the 'net and try to contact Tim Studdard(?). He is the editor and that magazine has a great group of people involved in it. Buncha well-educated hobbyists who love road courses/handling as much as we do the rotary/Renesis. You'll end up with a BHR version of suspension assistance.

the HKS has dials that you can adjust the damping. all you need to do is pop the hood or the trunk. 2 minutes and your done!

There is nothing wrong with Tanabe or HKS. Both are very reputable companies and make excellent products.

I like HKS, and that is what I have.

Charles is an HKS dealer

I try and segregate my suspension customers into two groups. 1) Those who are serious about suspension set-ups and will do a comprehensive ride height adjustment and corner-weighting adjustment, and, 2) Those who just want better cornering, lower ride, and some user-adjustability on the damping rates. I can get good deals on either situation.
