how do you adjust tein flex w/o edfc?

i have edfc, so i cant tell u how easy it is to adjust the damping force w/o it. spend the extra $ and get edfc, but if u dont get edfc, each strut has a little round **** at the top and u can turn it to adjust the damping force. the fronts would prolly be somewhat easy to reach. the rears would be a chore if u didnt cut out the existing cover from the inside trunk compartment.
or u could spend 380$ and change all four from the touch of a button from the drivers seat like me.

I have the TEIN Flex, but opted to not spend the extra money on the EDFC control unit. For a few reasons, that is a lot of money, that got spent on other mods, like a spare set of track wheels. I also don't plan to adjust them while driving on the track, I have enough to pay attention to as it is, fiddling with the controller would not be a good idea. I leave it at one setting for daily use, so I would not find myself adjusting it every day. It depends on what you want to accomplish, what your needs are, and how deep your pockets are.
And, I find it easy to adjust the rear shocks, but I also cut a hole in the trunk liner, so that if and when it is actually in the car, not much, I can reach my fingers in and adjust them. It also gives me piece of mind, that it was done right, I only trust electronics so much, but when I feel the clicks of the adjustment ****, I know it got done, the right number of times, and that they are set evenly.
I tried to fit the adjuster cables from the Tokico D-Spec shocks to the TEIN's, it fits on the fronts, and would fit on the rears, but I could not get it onto the adjustment ****, due to where it is located, and it would not stay once you got it on anyway, it threads onto the **** for the Tokico's, and the TEIN **** has no threads that high up.
Either way, up to you, all just decisions to be made.

the basslink is not very large, but would be mounted next to one of the sides where i would need to reach the struts. this is a street car since the track here closed this past april unfortunately. ive heard that these are the most "streetable" coilovers. i'm also considering H&R springs and Tokico D-Spec struts.

streetable yes, but they could be considered a bit firm, to the average driver. I am willing to put up with it on the street and everyday driving, in a trade off for the better handling on the track. A slightly stiffer spring, and a good shock to compliment it, might be more what you are looking for, and probably cost a good bit less too. The tokico shocks, have adjusters that can be fitted to the top of them, that make them easier to adjust, eliminating the need for the EDFC. But in all honesty, for a street car, you would most likely set them to full soft, and leave it. I only really adjust mine for the times I am on the track, other than that, it is at one setting the rest of the time.

im still thinking about H&R springs and d-spec struts. hwoever this combination will probably come out close to $900 shipped. the flex can be had for $1355 shipped to me so i may get those anyway, i think ill be able to live w/ the ride. i dont want to spend the extra on the edfc though. is it a very tight space to reach the adjusters? it would be perfect if there were extension cables for the teins. you mentioned that you tried the d-spec cables, did they work? i mean i know you said for the rears it wouldnt screw down, but would the adjustor actually work? perhaps the thread could be extended some how to make them stay down...?

I could not conceivably get the Tokico adjusters to work on the TEIN's. Even cutting the adjuster pin down would not work, since the threads on the TEIN adjustment ***** do not start at the top, but rather about 1/4" down, well out of the reach of the threads on the cables. And there did not seem to be anywhere to run the cable, that it could be accessed, it would only bend in small amounts, and not in multiple directions at one time. I wish it would have worked, but after an hour spent in the trunk, trying to get it to work, I gave up.
