Did anyone find out how to turn off the TPMS? or maybe cut off the wire??

There were a few posts out there about disabling the TPMS system, but last I saw there was no simple solution. I took a quick look at the TPMS myself. If you unplug the TPMS module (in the center console above the radio), the TPMS dashboard warning light will flash continuously.

Cutting the wire will not work, and could mess up the CAN network the car uses to communicate between the different systems. You would be better off unplugging the TPMS module.

One person suggested cutting the connection to the TPMS indicator light in the dashboard gauge, but it still may beep at you anyway.

My guess is there may be a way to reprogram the dashboard to not flash the warning light and beep, but I don't know if even the dealer can do that.

The only other option would be to create a replacement TPMS module that sends out the "I'm OK" message every few seconds so that the dashboard does not light the TPMS error indicator or beep. (I was able to simulate this solution with my laptop and a OBD2 CAN interface, but that is not a viable, or cheap solution.)

As of now it blinks continuously when I hit a bump, it wont stop til I shut the car off. I think cutting the indicator light would work hmmm I just hope I cut the right one grrr

i don't have my tpms installed, the light is on, but it's a solid light, it doesn't bother me anymore than the light from having my headlights on.

I dont have my tpms installed either but when I hit a bump thats when it comes on. It doesnt really bother me but I would want it off.

weird. mine doesn't do anything besides light up, and stay lit up. it doesn't flash or do anything else.

Mine flashes after I drive x amount of miles.
I don't even notice it anymore.

I'm thinking this is possible..The dealer would need to inhale the info from the PCM and re-enter the as built as TPMS disabled..

There is a MRI addressing the issue that the TPMS is a forced entry to the PCM.

I gotta find a cool dealer..

The way I read this..if the dealer inhales the data from the PCM then forgets to re-enter the TPMS data the light should stay off, and the system will not see it as missing.

Now THAT is interesting! I wonder if there is any dealership with a WDS that'd be willing to try this. Also wonder if the headlight on indicator could be turned off in a similar way....?

All I have access to is a functional schematic of the system..not the internals of the transmitter itself.

why would you want to disable the tpms??

Some members have wheel and tire packages that will not accept the TPMS sensors.

This results in a constant TPMS light on the dash.

Not to mention the fact that the damn things are too sensitive to temperature fluctuations.

I've put my TPMS in my new chrome rims and have them in the garage now for the winter. I have my winter rims on now without TPMS and the light doesn't come on. Kinda wierd but im wondering if it senses the other rims on start up since they are close and since they never give a "hey im bad signal" it stays off. Just an observation I've had.

Whoa..have you ever had you car in the shop for a PCM issue?

The sensors are supposed to send a constant RF signal to the module.
