Coilovers come with damping matched to their spring rates. Buying adjustable shocks from one company and some other companies springs can be a problem if they don't play well together. That being said, the Konis have a pretty wide range of adjustment and would probably work well with most springs available for the RX-8.

The Konis should work well with about any aftermarket spring for the RX8, as Dark8 alluded to, because they are adjustable over a very wide range. We just got a set on one of our cars last weekend, with no other mods. At a half turn up from full-soft in the rear and a similar setting in front, they are definitely firmer but by no means harsh. Feel just about like what the car should have felt like from the factory; taut, better controlled, and more responsive without killing the ride. Dropping the fronts to full-soft made it essentially feel like a stock car, just with more damping in the rear (did not adjust the rear yet, since you have to remove them to adjust).
Over the next couple months we'll be experimenting with them on the road and track, and eventually trying a couple different spring and swaybar combos as well. If you would like a set, DPE has 6 sets ready to ship for $585, with free shipping through the end of the month. Also have free shipping on Tein S-techs through the end of the month and three sets in stock; they're $160. Feel free to PM or email with any questions, or if it all just sounds perfect you can place your order directly on the site .
