Hey everyone, I was hoping I could get a little advice on this issue I'm having with Koni. I must say that the shocks impress me everytime I drive the car, but it seems like I've had to deal with too many issues since I installed the shocks about six weeks ago.

First, on the initial install, one of the shafts on the shock was too wide for the metal sleeve koni provided with the kit...both 12mm sleeves fit on one shock, and neither on the other. I took it to a shop and had to have on the sleeves drilled out to fit. Not a big deal, but a pain since I found this out once I had everything already disassembled. Next, a few weeks into ownership, I noticed a slight leak at the adjustment **** on my front right shock both when I adjusted the shock (from what I can gather, normal) and when I drove or the car sat. In any case, I've never seen any liquid from my front left. I called Koni - whose customer service has been great - and they told be it would be a good idea to replace it; they shipped out a replacement the next day.

I received the shock yesterday to find that the sleeve once again does not fit on the shock provided. I was annoyed, but not upset. This morning though, as I further inspected the replacement shock, I noticed a small but glistening amount of fluid on the blue o-ring where the shaft comes out of the shock body. Furthermore, if I compress the shock, a very small ring of fluid is left around the shaft where I stopped compressing it. I don't recall seeing anything like that on the original four shocks I got, but I could be mistaken. Hopefully someone with a little more experience than me can tell me if that's normal before I take apart my suspension again

the konis won't fit with the current RX-8 ring. I remember having to drill mine out as well, it's required for our cars.
As for a leak on the strut, that's not good but it's also not fatal.

I appreciate the quick help Jedi. As for the sleeves, these were actually provided by Koni with the rest of the new hardware for the shock (white plastic ring, nut, and washer). I'd think that if they sent them, they'd fit. Not a big deal at all, but without a good vise, a job I couldn't do myself.

I think I'm just goin to send back the replacement citing the fluid on the shaft seal - which I'm pretty convinced shouldn't be there - and stick it out with my current leak. If there's a catastrophic failure down the road, I guess I still have a lifetime warranty

wait so the konis dont directly fit? drilling is required?
