Lowering Questions?

Lowering Questions?
I'm looking to lower my car a little bit. I'm looking at RB's springs as they advertise that they lower the car, just a little, while not sacrificing ride quality. If anyone has these and can confirm or challenge the advertisment please post or PM me?
I'm not very savvy when it comes to lowering cars. Back when I was really into modifying cars, mid to late 1980's, we used to just cut a coil or two off of the OEM springs--ghetto, I know. If we had some money, we'd just swap out the springs.
I want to do this the RIGHT way. But I also don't want to make any unneccessary purchases. In lowering cars, is it okay to just swap out the springs? I understand that it may be optimal to change out the shocks as well, but with just springs (particularly RB's springs) will I be sacrificing handling or ride quality for the 1/2" drop?
Any constructive opinions would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Cant speak for the RB springs, but I used to have Eibachs and quality is great. Drop is just right. The ride quality is not affected all that much. I used to have King springs prior to the eibachs and noticed the "travel" if the ride was a lot smaller, therefore meaning a lot less bumpy. The eibach springs made so the coils are closer together and limits that travel/bumpiness. Although they are not cheap, dont know about the prices there in USA< but here in aust they are not cheap springs.
I guess look at first how much u are willing to spend.
But remember, if u keeping stock shocks, u will sacrifice a lil bit of the ride comfort purely cuz ur sticking with stock shocks with aftermarket springs. if u went with aftermarket shocks with matchin aftermarket springs it wouldnt be as bad.

Swoope,
You're like my guaridan angel on this site, man! Thank you for the link. You're like Master-freaking-Yoda when it comes to our cars. I think I may go with the Tein Flex or Basics.
Kall,
What can I say...
