lowering the rx

I got some different springs a few weeks ago and I'm getting ready to install them. It's a 1.8 inch drop. Do I need to get camber plates to avoid issues with tire wear/handling?

I also read on a thread today that I needed to get new struts or something too because the springs would eventually wear them out?

Thanks for any advice

What springs did you get? I doubt they are 1.8" drop all around. People say the stock shocks wear out prematurely on drop springs but I went 80,000 miles or so without issues.

I think it depends on your drop. The op is referring to another thread essentially inquiring the same thing....and I gave him a tip I read that quite a few said the OEM shock struts broke on some cars that lowered much more than 0.5"

Not saying it's a fact, just what they experienced.

the website said 1.8 drop. im hoping its closer to an inch. cause its allready pretty slammed, and hard to get jacks under.

Sounds like you are just going for looks but I doubt they are 1.8" all around.

There is so much wrong with this. You say you are slammed already (stock) and then you lower it more than most people. You hope they are lying to you bout the drop by 50%.......that's the way to live your life right there lol. We don't have camber plates btw. http://raceroots.com/index.php/produ...pring-set.html 1.75" front and 1.5" rear

I have sprint springs which are claimed at a 2" drop and settle to a 2.5" drop. I'm still on stuck struts because I didn't see a need to buy shocks now and replace them later when I buy coilovers.

You won't need camber plates.

I went with Tanabe Sustec Pro OC-S coil overs. 2.5in drop. I also got Megan Racing's rear camber kit.

I am very very pleased with them for street driving and track driving.

IIRC, the 8 comes with adjustable camber....so why buy a camber kit?

Yes, but not enough for the 2.5 drop. I'm sitting at -1.6 camber in the rear at -2.5in lower.

I'm 2.5" drop and there is plenty of adjustment on my camber. I'm at -3.5 but was at -1.75 when I first dropped the car. Now if you go more than 3" drop, yes you will probably need some more camber adjustment if you want more positive camber, but I haven't gotten that far so I can't say for sure.

I just went with the camber kit because I wanted to do it right. I didn't want have it aligned and it have crazy camber and chew my tires.

Plus the megan racing parts are no joke.
