Magazine Tyre test

Not often you see a tyre test relavent to Rx8 so thought this would be of interest.
I have the Falken 452's which came in the middle of the pack.
Bridgestone RE050A clear winner ......

Does the Dunlop one say 579 a tire or am I crazy?

Edit: Cuz they don't give it a very good rating for being that expensive...

Based on the OP's location and the fact that the article references Holden Commodores, I'm guessing that this is in Australian $.

I dont kknow about the RE050, but the RE040 sucks. The only thing they are good at is feel and they sure can teach someone how to drive.

Tyre, they say tyre hehe

i'm leaning towards FK452s right now as replacement for the almost-worn out RT615's on my car, and it may be as soon as within the next couple thousand miles. edgeracing has them on sale for $124 each for 225/45/18.

yes the FK452's will be a lot less aggressive than the RT615's, but since i only do like couple track events a year on my basically stock setup RX-8, the higher cost and shorter life of the RT615's don't really justify how i use the 8 90% of the time. so FK452 will do for now

The RE 050A have a new version the RE 050A Pole Positions. These replaced the previous generation S03 PP's. If they tested these I heard they are very good.

I'm on my 2nd set of Advans. Great tires, but a little iffy on the street in the wet, fine on the track tho, wet or dry.

Autocar Tyre Test 2007 was conducted at the Contidrom, near Hannover in Germany – arguably the world’s foremost tyre testing facility. We stacked six tyres up for comparison: Continental’s ContiSport Contact 3, Pirelli’s P-Zero Nero & Rosso, Bridgestone’s Potenza RE050A, Michelin’s Pilot Sport and Goodyear’s Eagle F1.

http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...llCars/228552/

.....check the differences on how each tyre behaves when it is either on a front or rear wheel driven car!!

Total points: Goodyear 52,5 ποντοι - Michelin 49 - Continental 41- Bridgestone 37,5 - Pirelli 30

Michelin better in Dry, and Goodyear in the Wet. Continental is amazing when tested on Aquaplanning
