Manual Steering Rack Conversion

Manual Steering Rack Conversion
Does anyone know of a manual steering rack that is almost a direct drop in for a Series 1?
I got to thinking the other day, and if I recall correctly the Honda S2000 shares the same electronic steering rack as the RX8, and the Automatic trans version of the Acura NSX has the same electronic rack as the S2000, and the Manual trans versions of the NSX all have no power steering.
Would it be possible to drop an NSX manual steering rack into our car with moderate to light modifications?

I remember watching an overview of the speesource rx8 where they said they have a 3 steering settings that they can adjust on the fly ... I wonder if they would be willing to tell us about it
decent info on the subject: http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...ack-conversion

Yeah they do look a bit different unfortunately. I wonder if they are the same dimensions and maybe the only hard part about getting it to work would be finding a mounting solution.
The reason I'm kind of tossing this idea around is because I saw the size of the steering rack on the NSX... it's like 20% the size of the RX8 steering rack. Must be a lot lighter and if I were ever to do an engine swap down the road it could possibly solve the problem of "the steering rack is in the damn way".
Yeah I'm going to have to go to Ravi's some time and just start taking measurements on his NSX.

So as I seem to suffer constant and never ending troubles with my power steering system, I was wondering if anything ever came of this as I may be looking for a manual solution...

My power steering has stopped working also, I have cleaned the connectors with no luck. I will have to try a more thorough clean and keep an eye open if anyone else has a solution. As long as the rack is the same length and it fits in the space it should not be a problem, depending on how much fad work you want to do.

The V8 roadsters / conversion folks have a solution that converts Electric Power Steering to Hydraulic Power Steering.

And if you go to a Miata rack, the following is how to de-power the Hydraulic Power Steering from Flying Miata:
