Mazda told me I have 15% left on front brakes...what are some good aftermarket brakes
After doing a search I have come to the conclusion that every Mazda dealership has told us that our front brakes have 15% left on them. How is it that all of us have exactly 15% left on our front brakes?
Anyways, I'm looking to upgrade my brakes for when I get a turbo, so I figured just incase they aren't lying I'd better get some good brakes, so what do you recommend?
BTW there really needs to be a BRAKES, BRAKES, BRAKES thread

Your cheapest bet is to simply change the pads.
To further enhance the brakes, you can change the rotors.
You can also go the BBK route. If your not tracking the car, I would just change the pads.

I would go with
2 piece rotors
Hawk HPS pads
Let me know i cna work a deal on Racingbrake packages.
If you want a BBK you can opt for the Racingbrake big brake kit front and then 2 piece rear rotors.
They also have great one piece rotor options for the 8 as well.

That is ok. Since 2006 I have Project Mu HC+ pads for roads and even track days they are perfect. Just a touch dusty.
They have good initial bite and good temperature range which is an advantage to the ceramic brakes which may need to warm up in the cold mornings.

People in the know are probably gonna shoot me for this, but for everyday daily driving I run the akebono pads from tirerack. They're blessedly squeal free, and are nearly dustless. Not the best in the stopping department, but I find them adequate for daily driving.
It all depends on what you're looking for in a brake pad.

When my brakes are replaced going to go with Racing Brake all the way: ET500 pads and slotted rotors. From what I have researched, improved stopping power with very little dust. The Hawk pads seem to have good performance, but have dust issues except for the ceramic which don't have improved braking performance compared to stock from what I've read.

I would agree that the Hawk Ceramic pads are only on par with the OEM from a braking "bite" perspective, but almost silent and very little dust.

^ I wasn't looking for more braking 'bite' as the OEM are/were already quite good for a daily driver environment. I was looking for far less noise and a bit less dust (the OEM's weren't overly dusty for me, but they may not have been bed in properly), which the Hawk Ceramics accomodated very nicely.
The Racing Brake Sport rotors dissipate heat better than the otherwise very good OEM, reducing potential fade, and looking alot better.
