Need Help With Brakes?

So I was driving one day and the metal clip which holds the bottom of the brake pad to the caliper fell off on my drivers side brake. Now the pad is slanted partially since the brake pad isn't held tightly on both the top and bottom, just held on the top. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement bottom clip? Will I have to get new brake pads to get the piece? Is the piece called a shim? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try calling your local Mazda parts department and ask if they sell the clips by themselves. They're not called "shims" as those go between the back of the pad and caliper. I know they sell just the clips alone for my 99 Miata, but couldn't find them for the RX-8 on Rosenthal's website. The parts department should be able to let you know if you can get them by themselves.

You don't need the little spring clips.

I think your talking about the big clip.

Some brake pads come with them or they can be ordered seprately.

Try Porterfield brakes on the net
