Need help choosing tires!
All right guys... I think I got more confused reading thru the "Will it fit" thread.
I'm looking into getting some new tires, will this work?
245/40/18 Front on stock 18" wheels
265/35/18 Rear on stock 18" wheels
Is this a bad combo? I want an aggressive thick tire in the rear with a fairly thick tire in the front but with no problems on rubbing.
will a future Tein S-tech drop on stock wheels fit fine with those tires??!? do I need some type of offset?
+35 -40.... <--- I DONT GET IT! lol please educate me.
much appreciated
thanks,
Cheers

don't recommend trying to run a 265 on a stock wheel. YES, it CAN be done and some Auto cross guys have done bigger but for daily driving....bad idea.
245 is a great choice for stock wheels.
offset is based on the wheels. Can't really change it after you buy the wheels unless you're using spacers.

Bridgestone RE-01R's
I would suggest these:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....Potenza+RE-01R
They are some of the best tires out there right now IMHO and for the price you can't beat them. I am currently on my way to getting an RX-8... but just sold a 05' GTO with the LS2 (400hp+lots of car weight).
I first had Mich PS2's, they were good but way to expensive and I don't think are nearly as nice as the RE-01R's. With the Potenzas the car handles like on rails and only chirps second (hooking alot better) then fish tailing like with the oem's, mich's and other tires I have tried.
Never had them on an RX-8, but gonna get them on after I buy the car this next week. Also another comparision, my dad has them on his BMW Z3 (3.0) and has comparable times to alot of M series (other faster cars) when we go AutoX'ing. Hope that helps!

Jedi's Tires:
-Stock Potenzas: decent at best. Lasted 17k, got REAL loud after a while
- Kumho MX's.: Kumho's top street tire. (245) These things have an agressive tread, are SUPER sticky, and much quieter. Gripped very well, no real exposure to heavy rain but in light SoCal rain they performed veyr well. Lasted almost 19k with quite a bit of Neg. Camber
- Toyo T1R (245): Currently running these tires and could NOT be any happier. Quiet, sticky, great in water. I'll be getting new wheels soon and I'm already shopping new Toyos.

No winter driving...spring and summer only. Have a beater for snow driving.
Went ahead and got the:
Yokahomas S. Drive 245/40/18 all around,
thanks for the help everyone! I'm pretty sure I will love them and have only heard good things about the tires. I will give my review in a couple of weeks after I have driven them for a while.

Yeah let us know how the Yok's run on your 8. I bought AVS ES100 tires for one of my other cars as soon as those came out and loved them. Yokohama makes some good tires, and I have heard good things about your choice as well!
