Need help deciding on Springs.

I've checked out a couple of threads on springs including the Springs, Springs, Springs thread. My question is, about how low can I go on springs without killing the ride too badly.

I was looking at Sprint (http://store.racinglab.com/ma03rx8spsp2.html) which offers a 2inch drop F/R.

I was also looking at SpringTech (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPRIN...spagenameZWDVW) which are a 1.75inch F/R.

Thoughts, comments suggestions are much appreciated.

Those are huge drops don't you think? I would go with the Tein's or Tanabe's very subtle drops yet still noticeable but its your choice.

pm Speeddemon32...(in the springs, springs...thread)...he has Sprint springs. I've driven the car, which also has RB front and rear bars, as well as Koni yellows. The car doesn't bounce at all. Very stiff.

EDIT: oh, and he does not have the appearance package. There would be no way for him to fit over anything with that drop and the appearance package (or any other body mod)....so if you have any plans on bodykits, do not do sprint.

Good to know, I was planning on doing a replica MS kit. Are the Tien Basics too little of a drop?

Tein Basics are coilovers...so you would be able to adjust the drop to whatever you want.

Here's some pics of Speeddemon 32's 8 on sprint springs.

The Racing Beat springs are great. Linear springs if your into that. Subtle drop (about .5") but noticable, still very good ride quality, and decent price too. Very good performance.

tein S-techs have been working very well for me. ride quality isn't harsh and drop is great.

You gotta go tein springs if you wanna get rid of the unproportional wheel gap. The front has more fender gap than rear.

I like the stance with the sprint springs. I wonder if they make it hard to get in and out of some parking lots and driveways or speedbumps? Anyone know?

Yes, I know. We were under his car when installing the ACT prolite flywheel. He had scrapes across every low point on the car. Alot of the under coating had been stripped as well on the frame. Couple dents too, in the underbody bracing. So, quick answer, you're gonna have a lot of difficulty with them.

Just an FYI, the camber is really rough on the inside tread on the rear tires. He goes through tires quickly. Also, the Axis wheels are 18's.

Wow, great responses guys. Anyone with experience with Eibach springs? Had them on my Jetta and they were great.

That yellow 8 with the Sprint springs is sick low, but too slammed for my taste. I don't want to run into too many complications but still have a pretty low ride.

Xrider01 in our group had Eibach springs. Perfect drop in my opinion. He had 19's, but the camber was wicked on the rear as well. Let em see if I have any good pics.....

Geez the drop seems WAY too low in all of those pics for my liking. Are those all about 1.5+ drops pictured? I guess i'm looking for something like an H&R OE sport spring which is 1" or less of a drop, stiffer spring rate but just a little lower than stock ride height. Would Racing Beat be the only option for those requirements?

Also are the MS shocks adjustable, and are they a lot stiffer than stock?

ms shocks aren't adjustable, they will be 0.75" according to the MS springs. they are quite a bit stiffer than stock, but tolerable.

Here's a pic of mine with MS springs/struts. 0.75-.80 seems about right for the drop. I was anticipating something really stiff, but it is not all that noticeable to me. Works really well for what I need them for.

Check the "springs, springs, springs" thread for spring rates. The higher the spring rate, the stiffer the spring. MS springs are the stiffest, but are a progressive spring...so they only get really stiff in autocross, not as much change on daily driving.

Anyone tried MS Springs, RB front and rear bars and Koni shocks?

I was going to go with the Tein H-Tech Springs, but I'm goign to put on my buddy club kit first and then see if I'm scrapping at all, if not, then I'll probably get the H-techs.

IMO Eibachs are just about perfect....see mine.
I have Eibachs with Koni yellows. The ride is not bad....Koni's one turn up from full soft.
