Need new brakes what's best?

I am new to rx8club and I am unsure about the proper brakes for my application. 04 with 30K miles rotors warped. Wifes car, I drive it from time to time. I drive hard wife drives,(well not the way I want her too). It's her car so the performance mods are currently not important but, I hate buying cheap crap. I want the best performance for the money. We don't race the car but we both drive fast and I am a motorcycle road racer and I can't help myself when I drive her car. When the wife gets tired of the car, then I can race it. Until then, I want good brakes without the warped feeling. She drives only short distances, but many times daily. Thanks for any help. Oh, we live in Las Vegas, hot, dusty you know.

what Brettus is trying to say is the stock brakes on the RX8 are near excellent. Replace with stock and find out what caused your first set to warp at 30k

Get the rotors cut down, you most likely just have buildup on them. You really can't warp rotors unless you get them really hot and drive thru a puddle.

Keep the stock setup until you get really hardcore about racing.

+1 try to get them turned first. If that fails I like Racingbrake's setup.

Cheap way get them all cut. And if you want replace the brake pads with Hawk HPS brake pads. If you want to upgrade i like Stop Tech Rotors

turn them, or get Racing Brake OE replacements, as other say likely pad deposits or other brake issue so get them looked at or do it yourself. RX brakes are the best even stock.

Way to make a new guy feel right at home-------Why don't you go play X-box or better yet, you don't have to respond if you don't have anything helpful to say!!! Yes, I did look around before I posted, but I don't feel like I got a clear answer for what I need. Brettus

If the rotors are warped i would get them all cut and install new brake pads since a warped rotor is not good for brake pads. I would get aftermaket brake pads. The OEM pads made to much noise for me. I have Hawk HPS pads now and no noise and low brake dust. When stuff needs to be replaced i like to upgrade and not go back to oem. Thats way i got Stop Tech Slotted Rotors. I hope this helps you

Also if you want a good brake pedal feel get stainless steel brake lines and replace your brake fluild with a synthetic brake fluid.

I'm leaning toward resurfacing the stock rotors and the Hawk hps pads and adding the goodridge lines and synthetic fluid. If rotors are junk, will the 2 piece rotors be worth the $$? From my bike racing past, I am concerned that the higher end brakes will not work as well until the are heated. I am looking for consistent braking right out the garage. I don't mind spending the $$ on OEM replacement rotors, but the original ones warping makes me ??? if they're worth it. I have slotted rotors on my s-10 and so far so good. I'm not sure drilled and slotted are good for a daily driver. Where the best place for braided lines and hawk pads? Which pads do I want? Does it matter what brand lines I choose?

they should work fine. I think alot of the braking power is in the pads. As long as you aren't using a high temp race pad, then you will be fine. Hawk HPS seems popular. I am going with Hawk Ceramic for the low dust/noise compared to stock.

Hawk HPS+ suck! tons of brake dust and loud as all Hell. Two piece cross drilled rotors with MS pads are what you need if your looking for consistent braking power.
And if you want, I have some Goodridge brake lines for sale. PM me please!

You can find aftermakert rotors for the some price or even cheaper than OEM. The Stop Tech rotors i have came out to be around 450 so 112.50 a rotor

what makes you think they are warped??? as you give no description of the problem...

and impressing us with you ride a bike on a track is not going to work.. many here have been running the stock rotors on the track for a long time.. and a few racing teams..

No such thing as Hawk HPS+ pads.

It's HPS (street) or HP+ (street/track).

2 piece rotors are overkill for his needs.

The pad compound is what needs to be heated, not the brake system. Race compound pads work at higher temps. Higher end brakes (aka, expensive calipers, rotors) work within the same operating range as any other brake- difference is their efficiency at dissipating heat.

Drilled, slotted are for looks. 2 piece rotors are overkill for what you want. 2 piece are for weight savings and heat dissipation (track).

I would suggest Hawk Performance Ceramic pads for your requirements. Low noise, low dust, HPS type performance.
You can get lines and pads at TireRack.

Have your rotors turned (or get OEM replacements), Hawk Performance Ceramic pads, bed them in properly upon installation and you're set to go.

the oem pads are near perfect ... synthetic oil, small shaving on rotors, and maybee some steel brake lines. all under 300.

Agency Power makes a reasonably priced set. Personally, I replaced my stock pads with Wagner Thermoquiets I picked up at O'Reilly's. Pretty satisfied with those.

Here's one for all of you.

At Daytona a few weeks ago, ALL the speed source cars were running stock rotors all the way around. AND stock brake calipers. This should tell you something.

I have tried the two piece w/hats and they are over rated. Yes they are lighter but the gains per $ are not there IMHO.

Get some decent rotors. Change your brake fluid (street cars will NOT get fluid hot enough to have problems) and some aftermarket street pads and you'll be fine.

For anyone reading out there---learn how to bleed your own brakes. These cars have great brakes and with stock calipers, stock rotors and race pads I can outbreak just about anything on the track. The brakes are the primary advantage of the RX8 on the road course. And you'll recall that they do this (Daytona for example) with stock rotors and stock calipers. Granted they have the GAm Hoosiers and SS brake lines, but you get the idea. A big brake investment is not needed.

I need new rotors as well and was looking at some stop tech slotted rotors and there are two options for rotors: w/sport suspension and another set w/o sport suspension. So to clairify manuals have the sport suspension and the auto's do not?
