Nervous about Eibachs
Ok....My Eibachs are being installed on Tuesday.
When I ordered them, I was struggling between Tein S-Tech's, Tanabe GF210, and the Eibachs.
I 'chose' the Eibachs because it appeared that the drop was a bit more sutle than the other two (1.2fr/.8rr vs 1.4fr/.7 & 1.2rr). Also, spring rates for all appeared to be almost identical. I was also told that the Eibach spring rate was 'progressive' meaning they would act more like oem under 'normal' conditions and then tighen up under load.
Now......upon doing a bit more research, it 'appears' that the drop for the Eibachs may be more than 'advertised'. From what I can see, I'm not sure I'm liking the rear drop as in the couple of pic's I've seen, the rear looks lower than the front (and the tire is kinda hidden under the wheel-well). For those that have Eibachs, what is your experience? Also, any issues with bottoming out??? I have an appearance package and also front splash guards.
Thanks for any feedback.
Oh, by the way, I will not be doing shocks at this time. $$$$

I have the eibach and have no problems with bottoming out. Although the drop in the rear is pretty low, meaning the wheel well is almost covering the top of the tire. But the front is great. It made the large gap go away and the style is much more aggressive imo. Gotten lots of compliments on it. But I would say that it did go lower than what they said, probably due to settling. When I say that, I mean all the way around. My rear is still higher than the front, but not by much. I like it and that's all that matters. You will be a lil shaky right when it's done but the look will grow on you. How are you liking the magnaflow exhaust by-the-way?

I wouldn't be too concerned. In our experience Eibachs fit correctly and work well every time, so I don't forsee them causing your car to bottom out or sit funny or what have you. And pics are often a bit warped due to camera angles, lighting, etc., so take what you see in pics with a grain of salt. Good luck, and don't worry too much. I'll bet once they're on you'll be wishing you had done it sooner :D .

I'm also under the impression that I'll have to have an alignment done, right? or......will it kinda depend on the installation?
If I need an alignment, is there a period of time to wait or should it be done right away? (I don't drive the car many miles a week...probably only about 100 if that).
As to the 'magnaflow' exhaust....it is really the RX8Store cat-back. They use Magnaflow cans. I LOVE IT!!!! After much debating and bouncing back and forth about which exhaust to get (mainly RB & Greddy), I can honestly say that I am 100% satisfied, and certain I made the right choice. At idle it is 'slightly' louder (more of a rumble) than oem, but it really comes alive with throttle. It has a nice deep sound to it, and I love going through tunnels or freeway underpasses as at 6k to redline it kinda sounds like a F1 (Formula One) car! But....it is not overbearing, and at cruising speed it is almost unnoticed (unless you have to give it a bit of gas due to an incline then it is kinda loud).

Hoo-ray!!!!! My Eibachs are installed, and I couldn't be happier!
Took my 8 to the shop this morning.....2 guys worked on it, they started on the front (and I was there to watch the entire time). The front went real easy....it took them 1 hr and 10 minutes. The only thing they didn't know (or understand) is why the upper control arm shouldn't be tightened until the car was on the ground. Quite frankly, I'm not sure I entirely understand that either. Anyway, the rear proved to be a bit more challenging. Getting the OEM shocks/springs out was a bit difficult. But, after taking apart the rear ball joint, they were able to finally get the old stuff out. Getting the new back in also was a bit difficult but they managed to get the rear done in 1 hr and 10 minutes also.
The Eibachs dropped my car as follows:
FRONT - 1.0 inch
REAR - 1 and 1/8 inch
I do expect just a bit of settling but I measured it after my drive home (which was 40 miles so I'm sure they 'settled' just a bit already. I think the car looks very mean now....perfect drop. As to the ride......I didn't really notice much difference until the freeway on ramp....oh, what fun....seems like the car is now more stabile and I'm able to take these ramps a bit faster. The overall ride feel is not much different than stock....but, I do notice that the rear appears to be a bit stiffer (noticable on bumps!)
I guess I'll need to do an alignment in a couple of weeks....although, the ride and steering feel no different than before?!?!
Oh yea, I was charged $220 for the install. I think after watching this, it probably could be a fairly easy DIY if you have the 'right' tools. But, I was happy to pay!
