Talking New Mazada Speed wheels in Japan

I wa looking at the MazdaSpeed page for Japan and on the 16th they released a new wheel.

Let me see if I can get my Japanese correct (please forgive my rusty Japanese):

"MazdaSpeed is selling a new model roadster, aluminum wheel for the RX-8 and for the Axela, via the Mazda group dealership and the Mazda speed commodity dealer of entire country (Japan). The aluminum wheel (MazdaSpeed) which at this time is sold with the MazdaSpeed original design was supervised by the Mazda car design group. It is a spoke design which extends the spoke to the edge of the rim."

"In addition, this particular wheel is the wheel supplier of F1, although with the joint development commodity with the ENKEI" corporation, is being cast with the adoption of MAT process (* 1) MAZDASPEED logograph is on the spoke, and the Mazda symbol mark is on the center cap, these wheels only come in dark silver."

Name:
Aluminum Wheel
MazdaSpeed 18 inch
Size:
18×8.0J ?50
Part Number:
QSE1 3K G50
Quantity:
4
Pricing:
45,000? (which is about 425/rim)

Man, these have been what I am looking for..... gonna have to find a way to get a company trip to Japan and ship these bad boys home.....

Wicked, I wonder what they weigh. They would probably sell for twice that in the US dealer groups. I'd like a set of those for sure.

They use the same technology MAT process, which i think is similar to ssr semi solid forge technology. Suppose to really light though.

I like these rims but i still like the old ones better. I have a fetish for 5 spoke rims =P and even though these are technically not 5 spokes, it still tickles me a certain way. ANYWAYS, i would purchase these rims if they came in gunmetal but i guess they dont for the moment so im going to stick with the forged mag ms rims.

Nope.
similar, but the diference is that the spokes on the MazdaSpeeds come right out to the lip of the rim. The Enkei's are inset a bit. another thing is that the Enkei's are a six spoke and the Mazda's are five.

I found on the Japanese site the after market catalog. It's all in Japanese, but has pics and you can get the gist of what Japan is offering.

http://www.rx-8.mazda.co.jp/customize.html

then select the "Shop Options Web." It will open another window that is set up like a magazine.

These new Mazspd. wheels are cast, where the others are forged (=stronger). The new ones are ($200 each) cheaper than the MS-01 forged alloy ones. Also, the original ones (MS-01) come in white, black, gold, bronze or silver, and in 17, 18 and 19", with up to 10" widths available.

Check with a Rays wheels dealer. They should be able to source them for you. Here in Japan I can buy them through my local Mazda dealer, or alternatively from the manufacturer (Rays). View pics, specs and Jap. prices at www.mazda.co.jp/mazdaspeed or at www.rayswheels.co.jp

Yeah, they come in 19" (http://www.mazda.co.jp/mazdaspeed/flash.html). Its in japanese but heres a guide of how to get to the section, its pretty simple. Once the site has loaded and the flash intro is done, go to the 3rd tab on the top then go to rx8 then on to "SE". AFter that, go to wheels, its in english and then you'll see ms-01 and they come in 17" to 19" size wheels.
