New Tires Needed - Question?

I need new tires. I've search this forum, and came up with two that interest me.

Toyo Proxes - $665 plus tax installed

Michelin Pilot Sport - $1140 plus tax installed

Which one? I'm not concerned about taking the car to a track for racing or anything. Just want something that is smooth on the road and does the basic job. Any help would be appreciated. Also, any other basic tires someone could recommend?

Thanks.

The dealer says it's the Proxes 4.

Toyo T1R's. I've never seen prices like that on Toyo T1S/T1R's, probably Proxes 4. In which case completely different level/performance of tires. Michelin Pilot Sport are complete overkill if you just plan to be driving around with them.

Proxes 4 is a very good tire for just street driving, I'd buy these instead of the overpriced Michelins

good luck!

Check out the Avon Tech 550 A/S

I just put a set of Avon Tech 550 A/S tires on my 8. I just use my car as a daily driver . I was looking for a tire that would not drive me nuts with tire noise. The Avons are sooo quite I can even hear the exhaust and it is stock! I went with a 245 40 18.They look real beefy but I kinda wish I had just went back with the stock size 225 45 18 instead. The 245's pull the sidewall in just a little. The Avons have a really good rating from http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ech+M550+A%2FS

Must be new tires. Didnt see those 6 months ago. Kumho ECSTA SPT sounds too good to be true. How is the treadwear and the wet traction?

Instead of the SPTs, I went for a set of Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=2

Lots of customers seem to be satisfied with them. Here's how they ranked in a tirerack.com survey: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...y.jsp?type=UHP

And how do you say no to a price of...

$84 per tire!

I've been running with SPTs for a little over a month now and I'm very pleased with them. They handle wet roads better than the stock tires by miles. Don't know about treadware since I've only had them a short while.

$179 each for 245/40/18's BF Goodrich G-Force KDW's. Awsome tires for handling and they dont make much road noise at all.

S03's... Or Toyos are good and supposedly lighter than your average tire.

had them on my 89 supra. good tire, got loud at ~20k miles. ok in wet.

the kuhmo spt is awsome. the wet grip ia amazing. the tire might understeer just a bit. an i mean a little maybe. tread wear rating for a tire that does what it can do is silly.

My Kumho's got delivered today so I went straight to the tire shop and had them mounted. Feels great to be on fresh rubber. I'm very happy with the purchase. We will see how it goes as I get them broken in. With all costs figured in, getting into these four new tires set me back less than...

$450!
