Noob Question about Toe settings

I recently got new tires, and they offered me an alignment check. Well, when they checked I had .23 on front left tire and a -.23 on the front right tire. They said that I needed alignment, but I thought I'd check because I don't exactly trust them. Anyway, when he told me that I was thinking to myself that that meant they were both pointing in the same direction at the same angle. So I figured I was okay. Anyway, could you give me some advice as I am a new RX8 owner(almost 1 year) and would like to know what to tell them to set them to. I would like to go to some track days this year and possibly some auto-x. Thanks for all your help.

My front end toe-in is too toed in (factory setting; stock Dunlop's). After 20k the outer rings on my tires on both sides (and front-rear since rotated every 6k) are more worn than any other portion of the tread. Since the tread is uniform otherwise (and not "saw tooth") I'm pretty sure it is too much toe-in causing a 'snowplow" wear pattern. It started showing up in the last 3k or so.

My first order of business, along with an oil change, upon Spring emergence from hybernation is an alignment

As far as what the settings should be for tracking, I'll let the more knowlegeable on the subject respond.

edit: I didn't originally catch your equal but opposite toe, which as justjim cites is actually // to the road, indicating a steering wheel offset. My situation is most likely / \

With those measurements, .23 toe in on the left and an equal -.23 toeout on the right your wheels are doing this // which could be corrected by turning the steering wheel to the left .23, which means your steering wheel is not centered. I use 0 toe front and rear which is not the factory spec. Small amounts of toe in/out front and rear can be used to tune the balance of the car, do a search on these forums.

Significant toe is what eats tires, not camber.

Cool that is what I thought it meant. I did search first and I'm sorry if I just couldn't find what I needed. I was just wondering if that setting was out of whack and since they seem to be alright is there a possibility that they just did not have the steering centered when they checked it. Thanks again.
