Official Will It Fit Thread

So I've looked through all the "will this work", "what offset", etc., ect. threads, as well as stickies and I still have some Q's. Maybe by naming the thread as I did anyone (noobish like me) with future Q's on wheel size/offset/etc. (general "will it fit") will just continue on here rather than starting another thread . . . or maybe I'm too idealistic.

So if you have a "will this size work" type of question - please feel compelled to add it here, rather than start a new thread.

*yes - I realize the irony of writing that & starting a new thread*
But that is the only way to title the thread accordingly.

So my Q is this: Most of the wheels I like are "tuner" wheels. Thus, 18 inch rims are likely only available in 7 or 7.5 inch widths. If I go w/a 18x7.5 I can just use the stock Potenza's (225/45/18) on that size wheel, correct? I plan on getting Tein S springs to drop it a bit (1.4 front & 0.7 rear) - will this cause any issues with fitment of above setup?

thanks all.

Will 255/40/18 Falken Azenis RT-615 fit on the OEM 18x8 wheel?

I don't see why it won't fit.

I fit 225/50/17 Falken ZE-512's on a 17x7 rim for my winter wheel/tire combo (albeit on the stock suspension). As long as you aren't significantly changing the outer diameter, I can't see how it would make a difference.

Surpisingly gentle . . . so far.

In order to keep the first post at a reasonable size I tried to keep it simple. Swoope - I've gone through that site (and others) and this is how I understand it:
The stock tires will fit the 18x7.5 w/o any problem, and will actually protect the wheel lip better than the 18x8 b/c the protective rubber piece on the sidewall will snug up to the lip better instead of being 'pushed up' off the lip like the stock set up is.

Mostly, I'm just looking for confirmation of what I think I understand. And I prefer that confirmation here rather than worry about a salesman's answer being slightly biased towards getting more $$ out of me.

thx

Yes, the flamesuit fits. But, frankly, it's getting sweaty in here and there's just not much in the way of flames on the outside.

I figured when I checked in today it'd be 50/50 at best. Not sure if I should take it as a compliment or an insult that I'm not in the fetal position crying right now.

thanks all.

1 - The stock tire will fit on your 7.5" rim just fine.
2 - The rim should fit with that drop... as long as you get the proper offset rim.

will it fit?
Probably not. If its slightly baggy... i would suggest trying some pushups and work your way up to the large size.

It'll fit, but might not be worth the extra money that a 245 tire will give you. At 255 your on the verge of too much tire and not anymore contact patch. You should still be fine... but i would suggest sticking to a 245

Trying to help w/the clutter. There's always gonna be someone like me who lacks the necessary experience & knowledge. Thanks for the direct answer.

The offset I was given was 35-40. My grasp of the info I found tells me that is fine, correct?

I really wanted to go 18x9, but that size just isn't readily available for most of the wheels I like. I'd have to go to 19s to get a width of 9. While I'd like 19s, I don't like the idea of not being able to get road hazard coverage (TireRack, DiscountTireDirect, etc. don't offer it on 19s )

the offset and tire calculator cover it all... it is not like you are going 285 on a 2 inch drop are you...

as i have said before the car and wheel well do not do what size rims you have, worry about the tire diamater and offset...

thats odd. discount tire gave me road hazard coverage on my 19s. I'm glad they did because i got a nail in the sidewall 1 month after buying the tire.

for a 18X7.5" rim.... 35-40 offset will work just fine. 30 to 35 would probably work as well.
