Alright ppl....

I made a similiar thread like this before but i never gotten the answer that i wanted...so lets give this one more try....

Lets say im running the stock wheels + tires setup....18x8 +50 all around....

Whats the absolute furthest the stock wheels can come out with spacers with no rubbing without rolling fenders? (on a mild drop 1-1.3"....no slamming)

can it come out 20mm? 25mm?

thanks

i got the answer for you, 23mm is the max you can go without rolling the fender.
i found it at page 45 from the HyperRev Rx8 vol.96

I would not go to +23mm with the 18x8 size. I went with 18x8 +35mm offset rims and it is VERY close to rubbing. I would say I'm about 1-2mm from rubbing. Now, my car is dropped 1 inch all around so that makes it more succeptable to rubbing. I personally wouldn't go any farther out than +35mm if you are using an 18x8 rims size.

The other thing to consider is the farther you push out the wheels, the worse your turning radius will be, and the more the car will tramline (follow pre worn grooves in the pavement).

when rx8spiritR said 23mm he didnt mean a 23 offset
He meant the lowest offset would be a +27 without rubbin gon a 18x8 wheel.

That number seems kinda low...hmm

Well i also just took alook at page 45 of HyperREV and actually i got the answer i want The max on the fronts is 18mm and the rears are 23mm

I was game enough to go for the 8.5" +35 before for my Enkei.

Incidentally the Fujita have the spacer of exactly F 18mm and R 23mm :D

Some race car RX-8 have wider wheels. The RX-8 race car from Super Autobarc (RX-7 magazine 6/2005 page 63) has a Volks CE28N in 18 x 9 +35. That is 28mm more. Of course they have stiff suspension and strong sway bar that it does not lean a single mm so they can set the height just above the tyre

BTW I am sick off waiting for hte next HyperRev on RX-8 that I am getting the latest news on the RX-7 magazine.
