Ordered new wheels and tires now wondering about drop...

Ordered axis halos In white 18x8.5 +45 with 245/40 bf goodrich tires. Wondering what springs to get I already have MS intake and exhaust and thinking about their springs anyone want to chime in on how they ride? It seems a lot of people around here don't care for MS. Any advice would be appreciated thanks in advance.

i think the reason they dont like it is because the drop is not as aggressive as some other springs, and supposedly they're a little stiffer also. With any lowering springs, you should also look into a shock combo, since you OEM shocks will blow eventually and it'll cost you 2x the installation price to put new shocks in later

right now im running on koni yellow shocks and tein s-tech springs, rides pretty good, perfect for street, canyon and light track duty, a little soft for my tune, im upgrading to a custom coilover setup soon

Well I'm not too worried about cost for labor as I am a service advisor at a bpg store and have techs that will do it for me and my car is my dd I will not be doing any track days. That's what the bike is for. For now I would just like to do the weeks and tires with springs for the mean time and get shocks at a later date. And I thought the ms springs drops the front 1.2 and the rear .8? Is that not enough to look good?

i think the teins have a pretty perfect height for a drop, some people prefer thier car lower but i would put anything lower in the slammed category. The s-techs drop between 1.5 to 1.8 inches i think

Well we don't know where you go. I am way lower than s-techs and drive on shitty roads but I don't scrape.

If you don't want to scrape, S-techs. If you want more of an aggressive drop with the possibility to scrape, get Sprints

hate to hijack this thread but...i'm also in the same situation.
18x9 +30. 245/40/18.

Can I safely use tein-s without scraping?
(less than 3 finger-gap in rear; 3.5 in front)

Well it's. Not just where I go but I have been known to throw a couple of carseats in th back and head out on a few hundred mile trip once or twice a month. But I do like the agressive look. I have driven many lowered cars and trucks so I am aware of how to drive but I still want to be able to make it over speed bumps and into the local chuck e cheese with the kids if you know what I mean.

I had the exact same wheels (gold) with s-techs. Loved the look but had to drive like grandma a couple times due to the height (nyc, northeast roads)

My main concern is my driveway because it sloped down towards my house so as long as I can clear that then i'm happy I need to park on the bend and measure my car loaded down the next time I go on a trip. Because if I cant learn how to drive good enough to get out of my driveway then whats the use in even trying to drive at all?

Exact same with my old driveway. With the wheels and springs in i had to approach at nearly a 45 deg angle to not scrape, though I alway seemed to catch the front bottom plastic anyways.

Once I had my auth MS front bumper on not a chance in hell with that low clearance, had to street park.

Yeah but then when you street park theres always that chance that teenage driver will cream your car or that drunk *** falling asleep trying to get home. I guess we can never win.

yea with my ms springs front and sides all authentic its hard to get into certain places. I could never go lower because I'm close to scraping with mazdaspeed springs.

I have S techs and love the drop, The tanabe's settle a bit more than the S techs, I think a great compromise might be the Tein H-Techs or the progressive springs if you load the car down from time to time. But to the naked eye most drops springs look the same except the sprints and the H&R's. You also cannot go wrong with Eibachs (maker of a lot of rebranded springs and coilovers)

i have been looking into getting springs and from reading what everyone says the tein s techs are the way to go. I want something that will lower the car alot but not slam it and that will still ride well. I dont know whether to go with the H-techs or the S-techs though....any real difference between the two other than ride height?

sorry i didnt mean to thread jack

Thanks spence15 thats exactly what I needed to see I love the way your car sits. Plus I already have MS intake and exhaust so I would like to get the springs from MS as well. I measured my highest point of my driveway to my lowest point of my car not loaded down and its 1.75 inches not too much so I am going to have to take it easy no matter what springs I get. And Revolution Rotary by all means thread jack thats what we are all here for is to discuss!

i think you're heights just about right but the "on the knee" shots make it hard to tell since i dont usually look at cars on my knees

Quick question has anyone tried sprints on an otherwise standard setup?
