Poll: Black or Gold?
Thanks to Glyphon i now have these gorgeous photoshopped pictures of my AMEs refinnished in gold and gloss black
I plan to have them refinnished in ~2 weeks time... still deciding which color i should pick....so give me your opinions by voting and leaving your comments
I am also trying to decide if the rivets of the wheels should be left silver, or also refinnished in whatever color i choose for the wheels? Or maybe black rivets on the gold wheels?
1. Diamond cut finnish ( current )
2. Gold finnish
3. Gloss black finnish

FYI the gloss black is going to be pretty much like the photochopped picture because black is afterall....black.... but for the gold its probably not going to be the exact gold in the picture i dont think...
Do you guys think a light gold like that looks better ? Or a darker/closer to bronze type gold?

Exactly!
The AME's design is more of a "classy" wheel if i can call it that than a "sportier/racing" wheel.......... Im just thinking it is rare to see gold in these wheel designs... gold is usually more for sportier designs?
The gloss black belongs on these AMEs more?

I do too... but to obtain that finnish the wheels would have to be anodized (which i have no access to)....... powdercoating or painting would not reach that result......
Its gonna be more like the normal gold colored wheels and NOT the shade of gold in the photoshopped picture...

A darker gold like the Racing Harts? Or a lighter shade of gold?

Get your wheels refinished in Chrome Shadow the OEM Shinka Wheel color...
Here's a pic

or get them refinished in a gunmetal finish

Gold looks too gawdy unless its anodized...

Judging from most of your opinions i think im going to be leaning towards gold......
I dont think anyone on here with a BB has gold/polished lip rims? (correct me if im wrong i apoligize)
Does anyone know the paint code for the normal gold color for Volk Racing wheels? Or can anyone who has hookups to Mackin Industries (wink wink FE3P wink wink Will PwR) find out for me PLEASE?

Based on the original pics in this thread... i would say GOLD.
Black was a VERY close second, but it doesnt stand out enough... and too many lesser expensive rims would look very similar. Those AMEs weren't cheap... they deserve to bling at their fullest.

ok... if the rims would look exactly those those in the photoshops, then gold would look nice.
as a matter of fact, i have black on black w/ polish lip. but my rims have thin spokes. your thick flat spokes would be too hidden if they were black.
GO GOLD!

Gold by far; it's total class. The black is fine if you want people to think you're an assassin or something dark and dangerous. If you want an elegant classy look, you can't beat the gold. I remember seeing the 1972 John Player Special Lotus formula 1 cars and they were drop dead gorgeous in the black and gold.
