I wonder what kind of R&D they can do without measuring the roll center, unsprung weights and a bunch of other stuff. They're just trying to adapt something to fit... R&D is a completely different thing!
Besides, where are the dyno plots? what's the compression and rebound like? Are the valves digressive or what?

Come on...

 

This is probably true for 99% of the RX-8 coilovers.

Hell, I'd take a free set of Riceland coilovers. But I'd take them to a local circle track guy I know and put them on his shock dyno and post the results. That may not be something the manufacturer is too interested in having known.

 

So I got some of these. I can confirm that they suck, but hey, I don't track my car or anything, so being lower was the only benefit I wanted to get out of them. The feeling upon unboxing them was much like the feeling of getting food at ihop, everything looks wonderful and crisp in the menu but after a long day in the kitchen, Archie the chef ain't too worried about making the food look anything like what it does on the menu. Similar situation here, except these coilovers didn't even look good "in the menu" They've got shotty welds and shotty connecting hardware. Springs looked...decent, I suppose. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were actually adjustable in two different ways, first by adjusting the spring tension, and second by adjusting the overall coilover height independent of the spring tension. They also fit nice and easily into the car because the springs are a whole lot shorter than stock. These...might be an improvement over my stock blown out suspension? Idk. Ride is super stiff and I foresee a whole lot of adjusting to get it the way I want it. Also I'm not sure what the dealio is but I'm 90% sure I set all the coilovers to the same adjustment before putting them in, but my car is definitely leaning over to the passenger side just a little bit. So in conclusion, totally race quality, yo. Honestly, I'm a poor little boy so I'm totally content with what I got, I'll keep you posted for how long it take before they rust themselves out of my car. But for $400 shipped, I'm not complaining.

 

Interesting. 2 years later and after mild track and heavy canyon use mine still feel just as awesome as the day they were put on. I never tracked my car on the stock suspension so I couldn't tell you if it's an improvement from stock but these have held up very well on the nightmarish roads in Utah. Ride quality is acceptable.

I can agree on the leaning issue. I had to adjust mine multiple times before that was fixed. I'd still recommend them to anybody who's looking for a cheap and quick way to get a nice lowered look but if you're serious id look into something more high end.

Need some help, installed a set of BC coil overs this weekend BR type. Old struts had towers on rears in truck but new coilovers didn't have them. Was I suppose to remove towers from old and install on new?

 

The BC coilovers don't mount to the top part of the chassis in the rear like OEM suspension, just the lower part. They are also cheap Chinese crap.
