Racing Beat or MS Springs?

Hey guys I'm looking into lowering springs and I have bascially narrowed it down between the Racing Beat and the MazdaSpeed ones right now. The price difference between the 2 is basically very minimal. So I was wondering if anyone had either of these with the stock shocks. Should I spend a little more money and get the MS one's?

MS springs will kill you if you don't get the MS shocks.

That is correct..MS Springs do not work properly with stock shocks (MS Shocks are quite a bit stiffer, so MS Spring spring rates are different). Racing beat springs (which I have) are.

Not advisable to change spring without matching shocks. However changing shocks with stock spring is ok.

Second Ngo and Fanman... not sure yiksing's final comment.

Changing shock without spring - of course it will work - but why

The Mazdaspeeds should only be used with Mazdaspeed shocks. In this case go with the RB. if u want more drop for a better look, look at Teins s tech

RB springs are specially made to work with the stock shocks. RB basically developed their springs specifically to run with stock shocks, and did their R&D on stock shocks (& Konis).

My bad, I meant generally not to match aftermarket with stock. But in this case they are meant for the stock so its ok.

I have the RB drop and yes they work well with the stock shocks, however the drop of .5 is still too conservative for me. If you really want RB springs PM me because Im seriously planning on selling these. DPE is having a sale right now on packages if you want to buy tein s-tech's or h-techs with koni shocks, which is a great deal right now.

Springs

I went with other aftermarket springs and I did not like it.I'm currently using the shocks and springs from Mazdaspeed.I now realize I couldn't saved some cash if I would hav just bought the RB ones from the very beginning since they are designed to work with the stock shocks.

What aftermarket springs are you talking about, RB? and are you trying to say that you now realize you could have saved money if you bought RB? Im sorry just need some clearification.

he is talking about the MS spring/shock combo. he wishes he had gone with RB instead. & you need clarification, not clearification!

I might be interested in your springs, because I want to lower my car a little as well. Are you saying that th RB springs with the stock shocks only lower the car 1/2 an inch? What other springs can I use with the stock shocks to lower the car 1-2 inches?

Here are the specs from another post I put into anther thread :

From their specs :

Front Drop :

Tein S Techs : 1.4"
Tanabe : 1.4"
Eibach : 1.2"
H&R : 1.0"

Rears :

Eibachs : 1.2"
Tanabe : 1.2"
H&R : 1.0"
Tein S Techs : .7"

Just be aware that there are a few people with these springs that have dropped their car more than 1" that have complained that the springs killed their stock shocks rather quickly, and also you may have to cut down the rubber bumpstops.

Two thumbs up for racing beat. Nice ride and perfect drop. Mine dropped .75 in the back and 1" in the front.

how did your RB drop 1" and .75"? wasn't it .5" both front and rear? i was thinking of getting tein s-tech because the front gap btwn the tire and car seems bigger than the rear, well that's just me

I like the s-tech drop, but I just don't like the ride on them. I guess a nice set of koni shocks would do the trick but I wouldn't really know since I never rode in a s-tech w/ koni shocks setup. Im starting to change my mind on my RB now, I think Im gonna hold on to them for now. I have other things I want to get first to complete the look of my car.

OMG! James posted!!

s-techs ride just fine, i have no problems. I barely feel a difference in ride unless I go on bumpy streets, and even with that its not thrashing me. Just gotta get ready to replace to coilovers when they kill my shocks.

That's because they're fake RB's! Maybe what they really are-are H-techs powdercoated red
