Racing Brake One-Piece Open Slotted Rotors!!!
I have been talking to a lot of customers and Mike over at Racing Brake and I am entertaining the idea of introducing a one-piece open slotted Rotor design.
Nonetheless from performance standpoint the idea is to increase the cooling surface (or degassing from pads). In that case, drilling has an advantage over slotting, but general consensus is that drilled rotors are more prone to cracks so slotted rotors are often preferred for heavy duty braking.
Over the years, RB has invented (patented) a unique finish called “open slots" which combines the advantages of drilling and slotting. It adds more cooling surface like drilling, allowing for expansion and contraction during heat cycles. Yet unlike traditional slots, these open slots never clog up. They keep the disc surface clean all the time. They can even reduce the brake dust buildup on the wheels, due to their vacuum effect. In addition, the open slots look very cool too!
EDIT: They are finally available and MSRP is $145 per Rotor or $290 for the Front Set, currently only the front set is available.
Orders can be placed here: http://raceroots.com/index.php/produ...rotor-set.html

Are you sure the picture you showing is a one piece rotor???? Racing Brake website show those as a two pieces rotors and they are kind of expensive over 300$ each.
For the price you want to sale it ($140) its a steal deal
but have to look like the one on the picture

Just using the picture as a reference.

If they make them out of the same cast iron they make there 2 pc rotor rings out of...they will be a true winner.
I have the 2 PC rotors and have run 8+ sets of front track pads through them and they are still within specs. Way better than I thought. I bought a spare set of rings 2 years ago..and they are still in my garage.

Are you only talking about the slots in the rotors being open? So the rotor will look like a typical 1 piece with the open slots? Or are you saying 1 piece would look similar to the picture you posted?

What he said..lol

It would be a fair guesstimate the one piece open slotted would be a close weight as a One Piece slotted. ~18 lbs maybe less

Either would be superior to OEM, eps for track use where the slots keep pads clean and aids gasout. The 2pc is 'better' in a couple significant ways, mainly for track use. They weigh a couple pounds less per, a BIG plus, where saving rotating, unsprung weight is amazingly difficult, and beneficial. And as far as heat dissipation, the two piece is purpose made to allow more air in at the center to keep temps down. The open slots in either would give further cooling, and their design is just the best of all worlds, being a hole in the slot!
If track isn't in the picture, I'd save the money and get the 1 piece (if it ever exists) or frankly, the OEM isn't bad, just not as pretty.

I do alot of business with Racing brake and would be happy to sponsor a Group buy if there isnt one already.
Typically they need at least 20 people in it to do it.
Are they looking for two piece designs or one piece replacements?
Also it has to be the same rotor type I won't be able to support that massive of an undertaking but if the community can get a general census of what they want I will sponsor it and make it happen.
I don't speak for Racing Brake but they are open minded if the demand is there they will do it.
Shoot me an email at sales@raceroots.com and I will look into it.
This will be an exclusive Race Roots product only so no one else will have these besides us.
It would be expected to be Mid-June that these are ready.
I am debating doing a GB I have such awful luck with GB's...
I will let the community decide on the GB if you want it to happen or not.
I know most don't like waiting and brake upgrades are usually not planned or last minute but I will do a GB price if the community participates.
I will leave the options to the customer.
1. Enter the GB early and pay 50% deposit you will pay significantly less
2. Wait until they are available pay MSRP
MSRP: $600
GB Sale Price: $500 Shipped
Let me know what you guys want to do and I will make it official, I am making them either way just let me know if you want to get the discounted pricing.

Mmph.... I would love to have these, but this year is tricky with my budget. If and when you start a group buy, I'll do the math. For now, I can only say that I would definitely love to have these by next April.
