RAYS / VOLK / GRAM LIGHTS 57F - 18 x 8.5 Cold Forged Wheels - Custom RX-8 Hub-Bore
You read it right!
The Volk 57F is manufactured by world-famous wheel manufacturer Rays Wheels Japan. One of the first companies to pioneer cold-forging wheel technology, Rays Wheels are exceptionally high quality wheels. Rays wheels are used by car manufacturers for their high-end sports cars, such as the Skyline GT-R, Subaru STi, 350Z Track edition, etc.
The 57F is a premium cold forged wheel manufactured using this cold forging technology. In 18x8.5, the wheels weigh in at a feather-light 17.8lbs without compromising strength. There are many 800+HP cars running the 57F forged wheels. Even on these big torque/big horsepower applications, there are no cracking or separation issues.
Don’t confuse the 57F wheel with your typical made-in-china sand or gravity cast aluminum wheel. The Rays 57-Forged wheels are comparable in quality to wheels costing over $5000, and are simply a steal at these prices.
So if they're so good, why are we offering them so cheap? Our supplier obtained a large quantity of overstock, which basically means that someone ordered them, and then cancelled their order, and then the manufacturer sold them cheaper than normal so they wouldn't have them sitting around.
SPECIFICATIONS
Size: 18 x 8.5"
Bolt Pattern: 5 x 114.3mm
Offset: +45mm
Bore: 67.1mm
Center caps included
Standard Color: Silver (included)
Optional Colors: Gold, Gunmetal, Diamond Black (+$200)
Optional Two-Tone Colors: Time Attack (black/red or black/blue) (+$300)
NOTE: Wheels ordered with optional colors are custom-painted to order and will take an additional 5-7 days to ship.
THESE WHEELS ARE NO LONER AVAILABLE!

RPM Store sells the AudioLink iPod adapter on the forum, even gives rx8club members a discount:

Not sure if Donny=falcontx or not.

I'm still uneasy about having a bored out hub bore. Even though it's 1mm and the bore is already machined, if there were treatments to the metal after the original machining process, you're probably looking at weakening the metal. If you just want Rays wheels for style purposes though, I think it's a decent choice.

J on Demand is correct. The wheels were originally a part of the Nismo line for the Maxima, which has a smaller bore of 66.1mm. This is only 1mm away from what is needed for the RX-8, which is why it was a no brainer to proceed with the custom-bore.
I believe your concerns are unwarranted. I'll explain why.
The forging process is the first step in the creation of the wheel. They start with a large, cylindrical billet of aluminum alloy. Then, using a huge press, the block is forged into the basic wheel shape, specifically, around the area that will eventually become the rim. Once the shape has been achieved, the wheel is heat-treated to maximize overall strength. A machining process is then used to ensure that the wheels are perfectly round, and to cut the wheel pattern, mounting points, and hub bore. And finally, the finish (paint/polish/etc) is applied.
So, the most important steps, which modify the metal on a molecular level to ensure the strength of the wheel, are done during the early stages of wheel production. Once these steps are complete, precision machining is what is used to cut away excess material. The remaining material is not altered, and continues to exhibit it's original characteristics.

Well at least heat treating is before the machining process, if it were after then the machining would be a big no-no. Hope your machine shop is good though; improper feed rates or lubrication techniques can result in an overheat of the aluminum, causing softening. Sorry I'm giving you a hard time; I'm a known **** retentive when it comes to anything to do with cars. For the money, these wheels are a screaming deal and whoever gets them will definitely be happy.

I understand your concern, and I certainly don't mind the questions. We definitely want people to understand exactly what they're getting.

Donny,
Are you guys working with Gruppe-S or is this an entirely different lot of wheels. I've been a past customer of theirs (former WRX owner) and have been considering a set. Could you PM me a shipping quote to Honolulu, HI 96813. Thanks.

These wheels were made by Rays for "someone else" (Nismo). "Someone else" cancelled the order leaving Rays w/ a sh*tload of wheels that Gruppe-S bought out at a deep discount. I believe all of them are silver and many had "NISMO" stickers on them which have been removed. The color ones are powdercoated by an experienced wheel shop in Cali.

These wheels were originally produced for nismo, and had a nismo logo on them instead of rays. We figured RX-8 owners probably wouldn't want the nismo sticker on there, so they were removed.
Edit: Looks like LabDad beat me to it.
