Re-Use OEM Control Arm Bushings (Rear)?
My entire rear subframe is rusted out, and I need to fix it. I know that there does not appear to be an OEM replacement for the bushings themselves. Any chance these can safely be pressed out and re-used so the arms/links can be blasted/painted or powdercoated? I'm thinking this would be cheaper than just replacing all the arms and much less time consuming than removing the scale/rust by other means.

there are (or were, haven’t looked in a while) replacement bushings from Mazda and they can be replaced, but if the arms have a lot of miles or corrosion then replacing them would be wiser. What you can’t replace are ball joint ends that attach to the upright/knuckle.

Thanks for the help I will abandon this pursuit and go with plan B, rebuilding an entire rear subframe outside the vehicle to swap in when done. Have to pull it to get to the rust above anyway.

Necro Update: Picking up (Pulling) a subframe locally tomorrow afternoon. Compiling new parts list needed to refurbish everything. Based on the advice above, I will NOT be trying to replace bushings but rather use new/good parts. If anyone was wondering, this is what I believe to be the complete list of parts needed for the rear end. Can anyone comment on if I am missing anything or screwed up a parts number? There are differing numbers (superseded, etc.) for cars with or without DSC. I tried to pick everything for an S1 with DSC. Please let me know if I missed something! Will be placing the order sometime this weekend.
