ok so i took off my rear pads to paint the calipers this weekend. i was driving today and heard this noise coming from the rear. the noise came from the passenger window but its on the driver side rear rotor. it was like a rattling noise when i was driving and it got worse, then i went to brake and fell like somthing was grabbing and made a deeper noise. heres a picture i just took. it likes somthing got in between the pad and rotor causing those marks there. the pad looks like it is in all the way. im going to go out in the garage in a few and take off the rear and see what happened. heres the pic below. there are the stock pads and rotors btw.

is something on your pads?

 

Some foreign object probably got stuck there... I had a little rock nudge itself between the pad and rotor and it created a nice groove on both.

 

Possibly this: If you noticed - the pads on the inside of the rotor have a pin welded on tha back side and they fit into a grove on the piston. If you don't align the piston with a special tool before you put the pad in, and pay attention what you are doing, you'll wedge the pad at an angle because the pin is out of alignment and could cause what you see in your pics.

Also you need to be careful about putting the clips back in correctly. Another possibility. I suggest you get a service manual or read some DYIs.

 

took some new pics later today. it seems like the piston may need to be pushed in more other than that, does the piston look like it is right or need to be pushed in more?

 

looks fine, it only needs to be "screwed" in until the pad clears.

ok issue fixed, totally not that rotor at all. my friend took off my front wheel to test to see if those brembos (off of an charger srt that he got for free) would fit, when he put everything back together my guess is he didnt fit the clips right that hold the pads in cuz they were in the wrong spot and that he didnt torque the wheel cuz it was very lose and easy to get off, fixed all that, did a test drive and no vibration or constant rattling only brakes that squeek but that rear rotor still does baffle me although it looked better tonight like the pads was making full contact. ill drive it around tomorrow and see what happens there.

if the piston wasn't screwed in far enough it never would have gone on, same for the pin on the back of the inside pad not lining up - the pads would need to be very worn for there to be enough clearance from the piston for caliper to slide on

 

I think he just torqued one of the caliper bolts and not the other then when he applied the brakes the caliper didn't evenly distribute pressure on the pad causing the un-even rotor gunk.
