I like the looks of the Sterling best. I think on a black car that black wheels is just too much. Plus I never liked the look of the little screws on the circumference to simulate a three piece wheel. The screws are fake which goes against my form/function crap. The worst part of the screws is they will make it a bear to clean the wheels.

Save the Konigs, ADRs and Motegis for winter wheels, cheap autox wheels, or for the ricers... Same goes for chrome IMO, chrome just looks trashy.

Now that I've managed to offend many people in this forum... what else is new... :p

These would look awesome on a Black RX-8, Racing Hart GT5s in black.

275-350 per depending on what size you want, someone else on the forum might be able to confirm if they are available for the RX-8 yet. Not sure on the weight, but Racing Hart is probably not going to make a heavy wheel.

RXhusker....

Yeah...the Volks Black on Black look is incredible. I'm just considering doing something 'different'. Although I may just have to copy that incredible looking black 8.

Poolsidenaz....

I am a big fan of the stock wheels as well. I am going to need a second set of rims eventually anyway so I'm just polling around for ideas. And yes I'll be there tommorow so I'll get to meet you...I'm one of the army of darkness...er...group of black rx-8's in the RCCAZ

I've been in the aftermarket trim business for 10 years, and have been selling/installing wheels for about 7 years. Over the years, I'd say I've sold 25 sets of Motegi, Konig, and ADR wheels for every 1 set of Racing Hart or RH evolution wheels I've sold.

I've warrantied more Racing Hart wheels than all three of those brands combined in that time, due to finish problems, clear coat peeling, etc. The RH wheel that Ike posted above is, cosmetically, very similar to a couple of the wheels posted by the thread starter. He termed the ADR, Konig, and Motegi wheels as "ricey," and then posted a pic of a similar looking wheel that is simply more expensive, and said that it looks "awesome."

So, does inexpensive mean "ricey" to you? I'm no genius, but I do know the wheel business. Shopping for wheels is no different than shopping for anything else, "expensive" doesn't always mean "good quality." Now, I'm not stating that RH wheels are not good quality, I'm simply stating that the other brands mentioned above are reputable manufacturers, and not any more "ricey" than the similar RH brand wheels.

I normally take Ike's comments with a grain of salt, because he's always on here jaw-flapping, and many times making little sense. But this is one of the few times I have to "chime-in" in reference to his "flapping."

As for the "chrome is trashy" comment, I will say this this: When putting appearence as top on your priority list, tasteful, correctly sized chrome wheels are anything but trashy. Last I checked, I wasn't Mario Andretti, so I won't be racing my car around any kind of track where every pound counts, no will many of you. So when shopping for wheels, decide first what your priority is, secondly assess your budget, and finally research the quality of the wheels that are within that budget. For example, cosmetics were obviously not one of Ike's priorities, because he bought a WRX. :D

I'm not claiming to be the "authority" on wheels on this forum, but, anyone can feel free to PM me with any questions regarding wheels any time. And you can do so without someone telling you your choices are "ricey" or "trashy." One thing I've learned in my years of doing this, is that peoples wants and needs are many times different from that of your own, but you should respect them. If Ike were to state a "legitiment" down side to using chrome wheels (weight or maintenence), then his comments might actually be worth reading. But, to just call them trashy, is just ignorant and disrepectful.

This is, however, is an open forum, and we'll just have to overlook his offensive nature. Thank you to all (with brains) who have something constructive to say on this thread.

No, inexpensive does not mean ricey to me, but basing your whole ad campaign around the fast and the furious does. If you want to be Fast and Furious that's great, but Motegi and all their little tuner wannabe fans can kiss my ***

Ike

Wowie....that was quite a post mdw3333.

I think you brought up a good point about budget and 'style'. I would love to buy some racingharts...their wheels are very stylish and light. I don't like all of their designs even though the pricetag is around the balance of my 2nd mortgage.

My main intention is to get a 'distinct' look for my car at a reasonable price so I can afford to do 'other' things to it as well. Again, opinions are what I'm seeking. I do appreciate Ike's stance on chrome and the like. I personally would put chrome wheels on my black rx IF I could find a set that were stylish without being gaudy. I also am glad that he at least pointed out some other options to consider.

The Racing Harts (I think those are their second label) that I showed you aren't all that bad, but some of their wheels do get rather pricey. I don't see anything wrong with not spending a ton of money on wheels, but just like certain autos there are stigmas that go along with some wheels. Whether you want to buy into that stigma is up to you, but let's face it ,Konigs and Motegis seem to be the wheel of choice for many many riced out cars out there.

I look at wheels as a compliment to a car that can make or break it. When you see a car and the very first thing you notice is the wheels and they stick out like a sore thumb I think it's a diservice.
This is why chrome wheels, deepdish wheels, overly large wheels, bother me and many other car enthusiasts. Also, why the hell is there a need for 30 little bolts on a 1 piece wheel, and how it that any different from putting a Type R sticker on your Civic DX. The bolts are a little more subtle perhaps, but the idea is almost along the same lines.

Guys that work at trim shops, wheel shops, whatever, in all of my experience like the bling, so do guys at Pepboys, Autozone, and Jiffy Lube for that matter... The gaudier the better in many cases, which is not nor will it ever be my taste. They have a right to their opinion just like I have a right to tell them it looks like hell.

Goodluck on your search Sanguine, and thanks for respecting what I had to say

I don't think that's always the case. There certainly are some good wheels out there that won't cost you a fortune and will look nice. That's probably the one thing MDW and I would agree on.
