Rotors and Calipers

Hey guys, Im thinking of changing my rotors. Main reason is im sick of it getting rusty on the back, and bringing it to Mazda and them just sanding it down and spraying it with that paint. I was wondering what your guys thoughts are on after market rotors. And where would i find some companies that make rotors for the 8. Also what kind of rotors should i go for (Slotted/drilled/both)..?

The next question is...Is there a way to change your brake caliper without upgrading the whole brake system to the big brake kit. i don't like how the DIY painted brake calipers look, so i was wondering if there is a way to change them...again what am i looking for and where would i being this search?

Thank You Guys...

If you change the caliper, you also have to change the pad and possibly the rotor. So you would be upgrading the entire brake system

wha tdo you mean change teh caliper? onyl things tha twill fit are fixed 4-piston calipers that coem in kits. Brembo has one that will work with stock rotors. you can find them at

http://mazdatrix.com/8brakes2.htm

someone on here also had some wilwood ones (less exspensive then brembo) calipers on the front..but i forgot who..do a search and it will coem up.

as for rotors..i would check out rx8store.net...they have rotors for $89 a peice..or $350 for all 4...not a bad price

Calipers are available in any color and the rotors are available slotted only as pictured in the thread, or drilled and slotted with are plated to prevent corrosion.

Complete front packages are starting at $1350. There is a good deal of tech info this thread such as the weight savings which a signigicant amount as well specs.Kit includes 2 piece 13.1" x 1.25" directionally vaned rotors, choice pf pad compound, Huge Wilwood Forged Wilwood Superlite calipers, steel braided lines, and all the hardware needed for a complete bolt on affair. Also fits the stock 18" with NO SPACER

Wilwood Brakes

If you need any more info let me know, be glad to help.

No, just replace the rotors.

Go for slotted Rotara. They're black anodized.

Powerslot makes rotors for our cars. www.powerslot.com. They were over at the Racing Beat open house & they were pretty helpful, and have very good products. I have the Hawk HPS brake pads from them, and they work really well.

For what you pay for replacing just the rotors and pads, the full kit is not much more. Plus you get the aided benefit of a huge decrease in unsprung weight as well as a wider 1.25" as oppossed to a stock 1.1" rotor. Also . the two piece rotors are directinally vaned and the calipers look a 100 times better

Now I own the car with the Wilwood brakes. I call it "Blues Clues" (actually my kid does ) Awesome brakes and definitely less unsprung weight overall.

I am in the middle of getting new pads (dual purpose street/track) from Sherwin (Docofmind).

However if you are in a budget, just get good street pads since the stock rotors are good enough to take the abuse.

So Sherwin, when can you send me the pads? Hope ALL is well.
