Run flat
So the best thing that's come out 4 tyres really are the run flats like for the M3. Was thinking could we fit these tyres on the RX8?
Anyone, potential fit, problems in general???

Tire Rack Has them $265 EACH. I think I will keep the spare. Other than being able to still drive on them with CERTAIN punctures there are no advantages over regular tires. In fact the ride is worse and the tire weighs more than a similar “normal” tire.

Check out my musings on these, who knows if they are good, but they are W I D E !

I also think it is mite rash for others to say all runflats are crap w/o having tested/driven them. Just because something has not been acceptable before (from other tire makers) doesn't mean technology hasn't improved and produced a valuable advance in runflats. After all they are becoming more popular and some of the new powerful performance cars are wearing the types of tires. For example the 2005 Corvette is no slouch in handling and it has them
http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette/features/
From their description they certainly don't sound to shabby:
"The standard Goodyear Eagle F1 Extended Mobility Tires are engineered specifically for the Corvette and designed to travel at least 100 miles at 55 mph if necessary with 0 pounds of air pressure. Yet the tires features more road-holding ability with better compliance and significantly lower tread noise. Z51 Performance Package Corvettes get a special tire known as the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar EMT. Its asymmetrical tread provides higher overall performance and grip in dry conditions. Corvette drivers, by the way, can monitor tire pressure readings from the cockpit via the Driver Information Center. "

Also note that the Corvette runflats come in a size that can fit an RX-8 i.e., P245/40ZR-18 like a glove! Hummmmmmm........ :D
