Wow, what a bunch of asses... The OP asked a simple question... Does it just make you feel better about yourselves to flame someone over your computer? Stupid way to rep the community we have here.
Myztiq - I don't think the Subaru's 17's would look good on the 8. Gold on silver is hot though. I'm just averse to 17s on the 8 unless you are running some seriously wide rubber with some deep dish.

Try it, but get 18inch rims so the rims would look nicer on this car. IMO 17's look pretty damn small on this car and looks disproportional if you know what I mean :P

Considering all of the "will this rim look good on my car?" threads that get great response, you sure got shafted with this thread. Anyway, I remembered seeing a thread recently where someone posted their RX-8 on STi rims. It's in the 17" wheel thread just a little down the page. Here's a link to the specific post.
I think it looks pretty good, but I'm not terribly particular about fender gap and being "flush" and things like that. I was considering getting a set myself as my winter/rallycross rims, but I decided to stay in Stock class with 18's so I never got to give it a shot. I think the center might need to be bored out (I believe Subaru hubs are 56.1mm), but otherwise, the specs seem to match up.

You can go ahead and try, but it won't work. The Subaru wheels have center bore of 56.1mm which is too small to fit on the RX-8's 67.1mm center bore. Also if you have an 04 STi the bolt pattern is 5x100 and not the 5x114.3 of the 8. If you have an 05+ STi(5x114.3) you will need to bore out the center of the wheels to 67.1 like I assume the guy with the picture had done. Sorry.

^ also a good picture if you've ever wondered how yellow fogs look on a velocity red, or if you've ever wondered how a velocity red RX-8 looks next to a velocity brown dumpster.

Big Money Pit - Way to post a picture of a car that has already been posted in post #10. We all know a guy put them on his RX-8, but he had to have the center bored to fit, or he could have used a spacer adapter.

Not sure if this was posted but here's the HARD DATA YOU NEED:
05+ ONLY.
Subaru STI: 17x8 +53 5x114.3
Centerbore is 56.1 PROBLEM
Centerbore for RX8 = 67.1
you need to bore out the centerbore to fit the RX8 unless you use a spacer of approx 15-20mm, but then it won't be hubcentric.
The cost of machining out the centerbore might be $100.00 or more depending on location.
Tire size recommended is also different than STI, don't use OEM Tire. It's 1" too short.
You should get 245/45/17 for the STI Wheels on the RX8.
If you get the 18" STI wheels then those tire sizes are perfect off the 08 GRB Chasis. Centerbore is still an issue.
THE BEST SETUP WOULD BE EVO8/9 WHEELS.
THOSE ARE SAME CB AS RX8 AND A MUCH BETTER OFFSET. 17x8 +35
