Well, it's getting a bit warmer here and my 8 is showing signs of awakening from hibernation. Before fully awakening, I hope to have my new Koni dampers installed.
I'm looking for information/advice on the settings for these. I have Eibach springs and the car is driven for road use only.....I won't be doing any track type driving. Soooooo.....should I adjust at the full soft setting? or do you folks recommend something else? I kinda want to get it right the first time as I know you have to remove the rears to do any adjusting.

Appreciate any advice/comment.

Mine are at full stiff in the rear...that's with stock springs. The ride suffers some, but I wanted them at full stiff for autox...and so far have been running full soft front and full stiff rear.

I would think with the stiffer springs, you'd want something more than full soft, but I don't really know what would suit you best.

If you are just going to use it on the street go full soft.

Mine, for the street, is 75% in the rear which is a turn and a half, the fronts are 50% which is one turn.

kinda harsh but I'm used to it and it feels great.

A koni has 2 1/2 turns stop to stop, so one turn is not 50%.

Well...another question. My rears arrived today and I'm trying to figure out how they adjust. What I've found is that if I put the shaft/rod in a vise and compress the shock all the way I enter the adjustment area......what I don't know is what is soft vs firm..........if the shock is positioned as it would be on the car and I'm turning it from the 'bottom' (the yellow barrel), which direction is soft and which is firm....and.....is there a way to verify it?

Also, my rears only came with a lock nut and what appears to be a white dust washer.....I take it that I will reuse all the other hardware?

I recommend setting the rear shocks to 50%, the full soft setting is too light for those springs, you can run the fronts up or down as you see fit since they're easy to adjust compared to the rears:

Thank you for the information....this helps....for some reason there was no literature in the box.......to my other question, does anyone know if there was supposed to be any other hardware other than locknuts and a white dust washer?

nope have to reuse the the oem hardware to rebuild the shock /spring. Curious as to why you didnt get stiffer springs?

Stiffer that the Eibachs?
Hmmm....after researching spring rates and drop, I like the idea of the progressive nature of the Eibach's along with the approx 1 - 1.25 inch drop they provide.....I know there are stiffer springs out there but there are also ones that are softer than the Eibachs.
I don't plan on doing any autox or anything....just wanted a nice upgrade to the OEM.

you should have gotten a small metal adjusting plate for setting the front shock rebound position

i have vaugtland springs which are pretty stiff compared to most. i have the koni's 1 turn up from full soft in the rear and 3/4 turn from full soft up front. i still think its a bit over dampened for street use and even road racing (depending on the track). the way i have it now is good for streets of willow. if you plan on autoxing ever, id sugest leaving the reat at 2-2.5 turns up from full soft and leaving it. the front is easy to adjust on the fly. the rear konis are a pain in the ***. have you thouht about tokicos? i kinda wish i went with those instead.

OK....thanks for all the replies.

But....I can see from the response that this is very subjective. Here's what you all have told me so far:

- Full soft
- 75% soft
- 50% soft
and

Ghost - hard to tell with your message. You indicate 1 turn up from full soft (and its still overdampened?) and then say 2 - 2.5 turns up from full soft....a bit confusing.

I guess I'll probably try 1/2 - 1 turn up from full soft and see what happens.....just hate to have to pull then back out again to re-adjust!
