Slight suspension mods for greatest benefit?
I'm talking about something simple to do that will give me better handling than the stock car has. Any ideas folks? I'm trying to ease into when I get the RX again so I don't break the bank right off the bat

Shocks > sways. Get Bilstein HDs if you don't care about adjustability and/or are on a budget ($400), Tokico D-Specs if you do want adjustability, or Koni Yellows if you just have to have Konis. All will reduce roll, pitch, and dive, while sways will only reduce roll. If you get a good pair of shocks you just may find yourself thinking you need nothing else, other than perhaps better tires, while the same can't be said of sways, at least in my opinion.

Check out DPE's vendor forum. He just did a comparision of two RX8's with the same suspension except one had the koni shocks and the other had the Tokico's.

A sway bar is completely different than a shock or spring.
Take an automotive class or do some more reading on cars.
You can have both, neither affects the install of the other, but they work togeather to control the car.

with a $1000 limit I would get coilovers. yes they are more than a set of sways, but you get a lot more for the money.

I am leaning towards the Konis, but I'll wait a few months to save some green to do it

height adjustable and dampening adjustable.....
they replace the struts and spings altogether.
Megan makes a set of coilovers for ~$950. Can't be beat for the money.

I think a good performance alignment is the best bang for the buck. You won't do anything to get rid of the chassis movement (pitch dive and roll), but you can dial out a lot of the understeer without affecting treadlife too much. The car has a lot of grip, and you can get a little more for <$80.
