they are 100 tread wear rating DOT-R tires, similar to the Yokohama Advan A048 and a few others that are intended as track tires you can drive to the PDX on etc., won't cut it as real track/autox tires (not sticky enough) or real street tires (hydroplane in deep water) per se, dry performance on the street would be pretty good though and wet would be pretty decent as long as it's not real deep at speed

R888 are fabulous performance track tires. I use them since 2005 and nothing more than just satisfied. Be careful on heavy rain...

Simply put, The R888's out perform the Yokohama A048 and A032R all day long. The R888 will also out perform Pilot Sport Cup, and Pzero Corsa, The R888 it a Great AutoX tire no doubt. They are durable just like the RA1 with noticable improved dry traction.

Billy Johnson who uses the R888, drives the Factor X NSX at the Redline Time Attack who Placed 1st in Modified RWD and 1st in Modified Overall, said " The R888 is the next step up from the RA1, exhibiting grip levels and characteristics of many purpose-built competition slicks."

So my guess is the R888 should be a good tire.

I'm not saying they're a bad tire, but they're not as fast as the best DOT-R tires. Time Attack is not really the place to prove their worth, try winning an SCCA National Championship on them and you'll be in for a reality check

Depends on what SCCA division your in. The Toyo Proxes RA1 is World Challange and Spec. Miata tire. People have been using that tire for a Long time, The R888 is a better tire than the RA1 and will start to replace the RA1 and become the new Speed World Challange and Spec. Miata Tire. It just came out here in the US. so it is not the spec tire at this time.

Really it depends on the intended use of the tire and its application. No, the R888 will not be the fastest AutoX tire out there. But for things such as endurance racing etc. Its going to be very hard to find a better tire than the RA1 and More so the R888.

Yes, it's a Spec Tire in both, Toyo sponsors to have it as the only tire used there, the R888 can't compete straight up with the best DOT-R tires; Hoosier A/R6, Kumho V710, BFG R1, etc. so just give it up already ...

i guess if a sponsor gives you tires and they want you to use them, you use them. if they want you to win, you gotta drive extra good, or they gotta start making better tires
