Soon to need tires

Anyone have any suggestions on replacements - besides the OEMs?

What do you think about the Yokahama AVS ES100s?

This thread will probably be moved to Tires section--but I'm thinking of going with the Yokohamas as well.

Depnds on what you need. If you are looking at an all weather tire w decent performance than the ES 100 is a good tire, but if you want maximum performance & grip go with the BF Goodrich Comp TA KD, Michelin Pilot Sport, or Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tire they all have superior traction.

I just got new tires this week - My choice was to get the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 in the 40 series but because I HAD to buy 2 to match the twom being replaced under warranty I ended up with Bridgestone SO-3 Pole Positions of the same size as the OEM. The OEN tire is rated poorly on Tire Rack and two of mine were making horrible noises. What was amazxing was that there was no visible problems really too bad but when they removed the tires the insides were REALLY humped and bumpy. The belts looked as is they moved and folded or something. I would NEVER BY the OEM RE040 tires.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 2 are rated as the best choice. The Bridgestone SO3 Pole Positions are rated just below it which is good for me since I HAD TO stick with the same brand as per the dealer for warranty reasons. At least they let me get a different tire than the OEM.

If you want a decet tire thats ultra quiet the Falken Azenis ST115's are about the quietest tire I have ever used.

If you're looking for bang-for-the-buck performance and are willing to sacrafice a little noise go for the BFG g-force t/a KDW2 in a 245/40-18. WAY cheaper than the OEM tire and far better in every aspect of performance.

Thumbs up

Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Positions......trust me.

potenza is OEM on the Mazda but not the S-03.. this has the "dual-tread" technology that makes it as good in the rain as can be had for a high-performance summer tire. you will not be dissapointed. check it out.

Thanks all. I am leaning toward the pole positions. I had T1-S Proxes on my CL-S, and they stuck like glue but were quite noisy.
