Howdy. Does it matter which way the coil seat faces ? I have 2 RX8’s 1 both face to front of vehicle and the other RX8 one faces to front of vehicle and the other side faces to rear

Do the tops also face similarly? It shouldn't affect anything as long as the whole coilover assembly is correctly indexed.

No, the underside, where the coil sits. Both ends of the coil need to be in their "pocket".

How old is the car? If it is an older one, you should replace the bushings and spring isolators too.

A question for those that know. Can you please elaborate on this info printed onto the coilovers cartridge body?
I am guessing the T is possibly for total length of body and extended shaft combined? Is the C possibly for Compression travel?

stating what coilovers those are might help

judging by the wire diameter, T may be spring rate

kg/mm to lbs/in
—————————–
16 = 896
15 = 840
14 = 784
13 = 728
12 = 672
11 = 616
10 = 560
9.0 = 504
8.5 = 476
8.0 = 448
7.5 = 420
7.0 = 392
6.5 = 364
6.0 = 336
5.5 = 308
5.0 = 280
4.5 = 252
4.0 = 224
3.0 = 168
2.0 = 112

Thanks Team. I purposefully did not say the brand of coilovers as I am working on a custom build at factory ride height with full adjustability for touring.
The spring rates I am starting with are 8Kg front and 6kg rear. The chart doesn't quite match up with the sprng rates but are close. I am sure that chart will be handy for others. I'm convinced the T is total length of cartridge including extended shaft. I'm still guessing C is the Compression travel which is not as easy to measure.

What I really want to know is if i can run an extended cartridge on the rear, and any potential effects of either desireable or otherwise? It will physically bolt up if that helps.
I would like to retain full travel in both compression and droop without lifting wheels or the THUMP after topping or bottom out coilover travel.

Any issues with doing this assuming the single adjustment **** for both compression and rebound is the same rate? This project will be completed over the Winter period where I live.

I will report back here with my success or failures in case others are looking for a touring suspension option rather than slamming the RX8 to the ground while retaining full adjustability..... that also doesn't break the bank or marriage! Cheers.

I have completed my affordable coilover setup on jackstands in my own garage with own tools after hours. I'm not a pro. My previous intall of low km OE coilovers were toast as evident on a tour earlier this year. I simply could not justify a Bilstein install on this non-track car which is why I did go with a custom set of BC coilovers.

From the beginning I set out to play with setup and quickly learned that the instructions provided are simply wrong, or more correctly incomplete. If like me you do your research then you will know that the final ride height should be adjusted from the lower spring mount after initial height setup from lower mounts. Preload is a myth on linear springs. Bring on the haters as they are wrong!
I did all sorts of R&D on these coilovers before install, including full disassembly and measure everything.

I was always after lower fromt and higher rear settings from OE for loaded touring (not track) with damping adjustability.

I simply ordered the BC BR kit for RX8 with custom length springs of 180mm f and r springs. The required heights can definitely be obtained. I am currently at 20/30 clicks front and 15/30 clicks rear for damping. I have the correct compression and droop ratio for my requirements. No big tours yet as it is cold and wet here currently. If anyone cares about my heights or other info then let me know.

I have no idea about the longevity of course but if they are blown quickly then hello warranty after first tour or after warranty then these cartridges are cheap! If these are rubbish I will call them out here!!

In about a month this setup will have a very solid tour completed. Then I will call it job done, or to be done again!

Overall, BC coilovers are great value and seem to be very good quality and fit our cars perfectly without any issues. I say go for it! 😀
