Squealing while turning?

So I had my rotors, pads, and summer wheels finally put on last week and since then..only while turning, more than a 3/4 turn of the steering wheel, there has been a high pitch squeal coming out of my wheel well..any thoughts as to what this could be?

Also weird, while at a speed of 45mph+..if I'm turning more than a 1/4 turn of the wheel I get a smaller squeal..?

Thoughts? Suggestions?

When you installed the new pads and rotors did you properly bed them in? This helps the pads seat properly in position and gives some pad transfer to the new rotors. This can help alleviate squealing when putting around the street. You will more than likely get some squeal when stopping depending on the brake compound you are using.

The other time I have seen brake squeal at low speeds is when one of the pad clips was not clipped in properly and one of the "fingers" was scraping against the back of the rotor.

Well I actually had a tech at my Audi dealership take care of them on a Saturday while I was working..he took it out for a drive afterwards to make sure everything with them was ok but I'm still having the squealing issue and since then he's no longer with us..could be a good reason I suppose...

See if you can narrow down where the noise is coming from. Have someone stand outside while you are doing your turns and have them listen closely for where the sound is coming from. It could also be possible that it isn't brake related, so we want to first and foremost rule out the possibility that it isn't your brakes. Might save you from a wild goose hunt

I will start with that I suppose...I assumed it was the brake systems but you're correct that it could be a completely different issue..I'll see what I can narrow down and report back.

Could possibly be a wheel bearing? Putting that side load on the bearing while cornering can certainly cause some noise if its bad, although its typically more of a howling noise and not a high pitched noise.

The first noise you listed, you didn't state if it was at speed only, or also at a stop. If it happens while stopped also, I would look into Power Steering Belt and/or pump.

I actually went away for business and am just now having some time to play around with her again...is there something I should look for when pulling the wheel off?

We have electric power steering with now power steering belts or pumps or fluid or anything. If it was belt oriented, it would be rather the alternator/water pump belt or the air conditioner compressor belt

I don't have the a/c compressor belt hooked up..but the shop that had done my engine replacement stated it was seized and I was SOL..could that be the issue maybe?

Sounds like the rotor hitting the heat shield maybe. Try pulling the heat shields back away from the rotor a little all around.
