Stance spring length

Stance spring length
Anyone know what the 6k spring length is for the rear on the Stance coilovers?...Needed to get a new spring as mine was seriously binding. Also I dont know if this matters, but the coilovers were bought when the 10k/7k was still the standard rates and the 6k in the rear was optional.

I can't say what the length is but...I will say the spring length is fully loaded for me at a dampening setting of 6 in the rear when going over sharp dips in the road. In other words, it's fully compressed and sends a direct hit through the shock itself to the frame . And no the spring is not preloaded. I'm hoping a setting of 8 or higher will fix this.
This is using the 6k springs btw.

that sounds like my problem except my spring is fully compressed when the car isn't moving and when I hit sharp bumps in the road....yikes. I'm getting a replacement spring but I just want to make sure that I dont have 2 different spring lengths in the rear. Would the length difference even matter if the spring rates are the same?

If you increase the length of the spring it might not lower to the position you want. The longer spring will however alleviate any issues of coil bind.
It almost sounds to me that the shorter spring should be the higher rate, and the longer spring the lesser rate.
Please email me with these issues guys so I can direct you to a rep at Stance to resolve any issues you might be having.

I'm rolling fenders on a Stance RX8 tomorrow so i'll take a look at his setup also and see if there's binding issues.

No need to Rishie...I went to Stance directly and got my replacements today. Only asked this question cuz I thought I was getting one spring since the invoice only priced one spring, but I got the pair.
Here's a pic between the new spring and old spring:
The old spring is on the right and new on the left. Same rates, but the taller spring has less coils than the shorter one? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Maybe I'm crazy? . Seems like there is too many coils on the shorter springs, which caused the coil to bind on bumps. Anyway, it seems like my coil bind is solved

The number of coils nor the height does not determine the spring rate. One of the challenges everyone has in the aftermarket industry is everybody has made a different size/rate/length spring. When you get into the advanced club racing and beyond all the springs are pretty much standardized.
The other issue is that the RX-8 does not lend itself nicely to lowering it and getting good clearance and ride quality. Contrary to popular belief the suspension geometry on the front of the car IMPROVES when it's raised. Yeah, yeah I know it doesn't look as cool put the series we run in doesn't give trophies or prize money for "coolest looking ride height".
Let everyone know how your new springs influence your ride quality.
Happy rotoring.

$90 shipped
Also, for impressions of the new springs, definitely no more binding...took some nasty NY roads ( the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway) and hit some particular bumps that caused the old spring to bind. New spring does not bind at all...all I hear is my tire still rubbing that damn tab in the rear

So, we have to pay to ship it back to them and the $90 per spring or shipment? Did you replace all 4 or just the rear? Being a perfectionist I'd like all 4 to be the same but know it's not necessary as the front end rarely ever gets compressed that much. Or maybe the front's were longer ....I'll have to double check this weekend when working on it.

LOL...I just ordered 2 new rears and those were $90 shipped (each spring was $40). I still have the other rear springs and my front springs are still the ones that came with the coilovers.

^So you just called Stance and said the springs were giving you issues alike to what hockey and I have (binding) and they covered that under warranty? While that's a good grievance since the original size doesn't work without issues I'm not sure that's something that would be covered under a warranty since the spring hasn't "failed". Or did you have another reason they covered it under?

Is this an issue with most of the rear Stance coilover springs? I just bought a set of new ones and just saw this thread. If I bought them from a member will I have any type of warranty? They've never been opened or installed...
Thanks,
Ryan
