Stock 18" wheel offset?

Where can I find the wheel offset for the stock 18" wheels?

What range of aftermarket wheel offset would work on a stock GT?

Thanks,
rx8cited

Stock offset is 50mm.

Depending on width of the replacement wheels, realistic offsets are in the 40mm to 50mm range.

Gordon,

Thanks for your reply. Is this 50mm offset number published someplace that you can refer me to (like maybe the place you got it from)? Not that I don't believe you, I'm just curious where I could find it myself in the future without having to ask anyone.

Did I overlook it in the user's manual?

regards,

It's not in the owners manual anywhere. I first read it here on the forum, but it is published somewhere else - it's cast right into each of your wheels! Somewhere on the inside (back) of the wheel, will be cast the size and offset - it'll look like "18x8 ET50". The ET50 means offset 50mm.

Gordon

Here's a pic I took of the area of the back of the wheel that has the info:

You can see the offset after the size of the rim, it says "50".

Hope that's what you needed to be sure of the stock offset.

Almost all rims are stamped like this.

Gordon and syntrix, thanks much for info and the nice pic .

Gordon, just a minor curiosity, I wonder if the "ET50" is on the Canadian wheels only. The US pic from syntrix has lacks the "ET" but has the 50 and also has DOT (US Department of Transportation ??) stamped on it - which I'd guess would not be on the Canadian wheels. I assume you guys have your own Canadian equivalent of the US DOT.

Happy Thanksgiving,

The "ET" could very well be a regional thing. Or Canadian model designers just love the move named ET

The set that I took a pic of is mounted back on the car, and the other set (bought from one of the first rx8's here) has the same exact markings as in the pic above.
