Stock Tires Dunlop ?

Kept forgetting to ask this.

I thought that 8 came with Bridgestones RE040? but for some reason my 8 (Shinka) came with Dunlop 8808

Well I changed it to Toyo last month it doesnt really matter.

Just wondering why.

Mazda uses both the Bridgeston RE040 and the Dunlop 8090 as OEM tires for the RX-8, been that way since early 2004....

I have the Dunlops, they are pretty good OEM tires IMO...

Yeah I think the Dunlops are pretty good, just not good when its snowing, Thats the reason I changed it to Proxes4. At first I was thinking of switching it to S03 cuz I tried it on my Brother's SER and its really great ... but like I said b4 ... snowing .... so Proxes 4

And I think Proxes 4 is on par if not better than the OEM Dunlops.

I dunno about RE040 but I heard pretty horrible stories about it ...

Maybe Mazda decided to just switch over to Dunlops at some point due to complaints over the Bridgestones? Mine came with Dunlops...not too bad although I'm going to purchase Dunlop M3's for winter.

I had the factory Dunlops and got close to 30,000 miles out of them. Rotated religiously every 5,000 miles.

jisoo26 -

I just purchased the M3's and they are INCREDIBLE. Put it this way...

I live in NH and travel over plenty of mountains and ski areas and I was passing SUV's Subarus and other 4 Wheel drive vehicles with ease and confidence with these tires. I passed 6 cars going 40mph at 60 going downhill and in a corner with the ground covered in at least 1"+ of snow.

Truly worth every penny. I bought mine on TireRack as that is the cheapest place I found them. $178 for the 18" rubber.
