i was curious to know if anyone here has re-used their stock 18" tires on aftermarket wheels... would it still look ok w/ 45 rather than the 40 that most aftermartket wheel "packages" usually come with? Thanks in advance...

 

As long as the wheel is within the range of the 8" width of the OEM wheel, the 225/45/18 tire is fine. If you're using a 225/40 tire, the Outside Diameter of the tire gets smaller due to the smaller aspect ratio of the sidewall. You want to keep the O.D. as close to stock as possible, and the tire is the limiting factor for this, not the wheel.

Cliff notes: Stock tire on aftermarket wheel is OK if wheel is close to 8" in width. More importantly, make sure the wheel you choose falls within the acceptable offset range for proper clearance.

 

^ so can the wheel per say, be 18x7.5 and 18x8.5? or 7.5 all around or 8.5 all around? Thanks.

 

I have - I have stern STII rims and used the stock size tires...they look great.

 

For the stock 225 tire, I'd go with the 7.5" instead of the 8.5"
