Taller than stock tires?

Any one using tires that are taller than stock 225/45/18?
I do alot of of highway driving and was wondering if any one is using bigger tires?
My 8 is my daily driver so I'm not to worried about acceleration and handling. I rather have better fuel economy and less road noise.

so do you have another car that is more performance oriented? I'm sure going up a little bit in size would be fine, but 1. your speedo will be off, & 2. the gas mileage would hardly be noticeable, if at all.

oh yeah, & since the car will have to work harder to accelerate, mileage could actually go down. really depends how you change your driving to adapt to the new tires, i guess...

MY 88 10th ae turbo 2 is so much faster that it would probably take over 10 grand dumped into my 8 to make it even close. I still like my 8 but my 7 is a whole different animal. Since I've come to the conclusion that my 8 will never be as fast or handle as good as my 7 that I would make my 8 a more liveable commuter. It seems to me at 80 or 85mph theres no reason to be over 4grand burning fuel when the car could carry these speeds at 3 grand. My old 1990 gxl pulled these speeds at 3 grand and only had 165hp( maybe a little more simple mods headers etc..) and got better gas mileage than my 8.

gotcha. guess i could have read from your login name what you had, but i didnt even see it. cool. anyway, do what you want with the tires, but im not sure that taller tires will help you at all. they would certainly help ride comfort, but i really dont know what the effects on gas mileage would be.
