Question Tanabe Coilovers: seVens + TEAS

Hi guys,
I was wondering if any of you guys have ever used or heard reviews on the Tanabe coilovers: seVens with the TEAS (Tanabe Electric Active Suspension) system.

can you post some pics please, I've seen pics of 'em but for other vehicles. I'm just curious as to how the ones for the RX8 look. specifically, I wanna see the top mounts for both front and rear. thanks!

did you tighten the upper control arm bolts before you dropped the vehicle? if not you need to loosen it, jack the bottom of the shock so all the weight is resting on the shock and then tighten the bolts. just disregard this post if you've already done this. I have the Tanabe GF210 on my car and I had the same issue.

...sorry 'bout the thread jack! now, back to the Seven pro + teas

if you just installed it, it may take some time for it to settle down on the car

I'm trying to find a place to buy these right now, along with TEAS. I'd like to get them on along with the RPF1's that are coming and have it all done at one time.

The issue with the SEvens for the RX8 is that Tanabe hasn't brought in any production units last I checked. I continued to inquire about ordering a set but they were hesitant on doing so. I got the feeling there were issues with the system for the 8.

They told me they have the demo set left from the MOdified Mag press release they did on the RX8 setup.

They were offerring the demo set at a decent price but no warranty, ehhh ya.

I wouldn't plan on it. If anything go with the Cusco Zero 2E with the Econ, this is the most affordable and quality monotube electronic controlled dampers you'll find for the 8 that are going to be readily available.

We're doing our tech install on them next week. I can call Tanabe and find out about questions again if you really want this system.

Where did you order your RPF1's? I'm running specials on them right now, what sizes did you order? I could have done a suspension and wheel/tire package deal for ya.

Thanks, Rishie

Ordered from you Rishie. :-) The only thing I don't like about the Cusco is I have to stop to change the settings. I really like the idea of the settings changing according to your speed. I can get a soft ride over speed bumps but firm on the highway. This way the wife doesn't complain. :-) The kids would have it the worst being in the back.

I just called them today and they said it is in production but it's on a special order request because they're developed directly from Japan.

Tanabe said warranty is 1 year for the coilovers. As for the TEAS controller, you need to power it up before install because if it was installed and not tested beforehand, there's no telling that you might have crossed some wires and blow the electronics. Other than that, if the controller is malfunctioning, they will test and cover it.

Jazzproparts.com has free shipping/no tax for Cali and lowest price so far that I've seen:
Tanabe Sustec Pro Sevens (for RX-8) for $1683
http://www.jazzproparts.com/ProductD...ctCode=TSE7098

Tanabe TEAS (Tanabe Electric Active Suspension) for $418.60
http://www.jazzproparts.com/ProductD...uctCode=TSD001

Total: $2,100.60 out the door

From what I know, Tanabe-USA said they have to special order it for the RX-8 because they don't make it here in Torrance. They did ask me if I wanted to place an order... I'll start trying after I gt my 8 (soon hopefully)

Please explain why you believe them to be junk? I know very little about different makes of coilovers so I would definitely appreciate and value your explanation.

FYI, the only reason I thought to go with the Tanabe's was becasue I know of no other coilover which adjusts the suspension actively based upon the speed.

I know for the Cusco's you must come to a stop to change the settings.

Thanks,
Dan

Well.. I've pulled the trigger on the Sevens. I'm buying the test set from Tanabe-USA. I should have them installed on Friday along with my RPF1's. It's going to be a fun weekend. :-)
